HELP i need somebody HELP! not just anybody HELP!

Ok so i'm rubbing in the rear (mainly my passenger side). I attached pix of how shredded my sidewalls are getting. I dunno WHERE i'm rubbing, in the last picture I've attached a clip of my fender, towards the bottom of the fender it doesn't come rolled from the factory, should i get that part rolled (in yellow)? I can't really roll any other part as my 550 comes rolled stock .

Wow, that blows! Sorry to hear that. Is this a new problem, or has it been happening for a while? You are on V2s right? Do you carry any weight in the trunk or backseat?

How about putting some chalk on the piece of the fender you suspect and see if it rubs off on the wheel.

Ya V2's, no weight, no spare. Happens when i go over hard drops on freeway or when i floor it when ppl in the backseat. I'm pretty sure i'm WAY to low and wide. I got 12mm spacers on my wheels. I gotta go lift the car a bit i guess, but i dunno if anyone else has done any trimming on the rear fenders when smalling their W209's with Coils

How wide are the wheels in the rear? I believe there are a couple guys that have done some fender work. How about switching to 10mm spacers.

I had 10mm's but they weren't flush. They are 18x9.5 with 35 offset before the 12mm spacers, so right now i got 18x9.5 with a 23 offset riding on 265 tires

My 10mms sit pretty flush, but I do see there is some room. Can you hear when it starts rubbing.

Tape up the fender wells... where it is rubbing will wear away the tape.
from there you will know where the problem is. then decide on how to fix, will rolling the area help, or perhaps you need to change to a tire with "rounder" sidewalls like TOYO proxy's 12mm spacers is really pushing it. change to a 10 and you may be OK

Ya, Ed told me 12mm is pushing it, my problem is only ONE side rubs. I think i will lift the car up a bit and see if that helps. I always thought one side sat lower, but i dunno

Funny you say that. I thought it was my OCD, but I feel like my rear passenger side was always a bit lower than the drivers. This is since I have had the coilovers

I know exactly where the rubbing is. I post a thread in the past that showed how to fixed the rubbing problems in the rear. All you need is a big hand file and file the lip of the bumper and the lip of the fender down where the two lips meet. I filed mine down to about 1/2 inches both side.

i searched but couldn't find the post, could you post it when you get a chance please?

EuroTras$: i taped the fender and saw nothing, heard rubbing but saw nothing, but then again my rubbing was not as loud as usual. I'll keep the tape on and see what happens

I can't find it either. I lowered my car about 3 years ago. Just do what I asked you to do with the hand file and file down the fender and bumper lips.

Ok, so i purchase a hand file and i file down the spot where the bumper and fender meet? Should i take off the wheel when doing this? Will this mess up the way the bumper sits on the fender in any way?

It won't mess up anything, you can't even see it from out side after you filed it down. But first, let make sure we're clear on the location when I said the bumper lip and the fender lip meet. I attahed a pic with the "red" line, the red line location is where I said the bumper lip and fender lip meet. Use the file and file down the lip on the inside of that fender. Jack up the rear and remove the wheel and you'll will see what i'm talking about. When I did mine, I just jack up the rear without remove the wheel.

Gotcha, i was thinking the same spot. I felt it today and it made more sense, the front was sticking out but didn't know how i could rub when flooring if it was the yellow part that i originally showed. The part you pointed out to me makes sense. I'll just kina file it down and smooth it out.

PS, info on your wheels man, replica? how is the ride on them? And in the picture you just posted, are you on coils or springs?

Ok, I felt better now that we're clear on the location. I wouldn't want you to start filing down the out side fender. As for the wheels, it a replica
E63 wheel. 19x8.5 and 19x9.5, Eibach springs, Bilstein Strut/shock and pad #1in the rear. I love the ride, it just perfect for me.

Ohh. Saw your pictures and it looked like Irvine. I'll be bringing the rear up a bit and cutting the bumper/fender area this weekend after finals.
