Wiper not Cleaning
Wiper not Cleaning
Lately I noticed that the right wiper is not cleaning the windshield, leaving a patch of wet surface in the right side. I can see that while wiping, the wiper is not touching this part of the windshield.
I swapped the left wiper blade to the right, same experience.
I went to buy a new wiper blade, same experience.
What can I do ? Do I have to replace the wiper arm?

I bought the Star DVD for the W209, looked up the problem and went strait to my indy shop.
Give your shop this info:
211 589 02 21 00 - Windshield adjustment tool set.
Procedure number on how to use the tool set:
AR82.30-P-6100-01Q
My indy shop did it free as a courtesy service

Talked to the service adviser. He said that this tool kit was just an apparatus to bend the wiper arm. ???
I will have to bring it in next week. Hope I don't need to buy a new wiper arm.

My service advisor called, he talked to the shop foreman and he said the adjustment is not applicable to my car. ???
The shop foreman said I might need a new wiper arm.
Do you guys know how much is the wiper arm? I cannot find it @ parts.com.

So what's the likely scenario? You really need to buy a new wiper arm with the motor and all the cost associated with it ($400 parts & labor). Or the Stealership does not want to buy the tool for $400 so they can only charge you for .5 hours of labor ($60).
I hate it when the Stealers try to rip you off.
Tell them that you can provide screen shots of WIS/Star saying that this step is doable on your car and that if you do have provide the proof; you will submit it only the the General Manager of the Stealership (so you can tell them all the BS and force them to get involved), write a complaint to MBUSA; and possibly never return for future services.

This is possible, but it's not as easy as it looks.
Mis3, attached below are the screen shots you need to show the Stealership. The first shows the actual bulletin saying what I wrote was true, specifying the W209 AND the tool set to use. The second pic shows how to use the tool set on the W209. The last pic is troubleshoot and check procedure and it shows the tool set again (under adjust). Bottom line, if you did have them replace your wiper arm (with motor), they would still have to use this tool to make the final adjustments.
Note: All I did was type "wiper" on the Star DVD and these were the first 3 results.
If I were you, I would go to your service adviser; ask again. Then after he tells you what he already told you before, ask to see the shop foreman that advised that it can't be done. After the shop foreman tells you the same thing, you bring out the screen shots and you ask them why you shouldn't complain the the GM and MBUSA for their LIES! Tell them, nothing less than a complementary wiper adjustment will do!
Let us know what happens.

Today I decided to bend it back myself and it was easy! First, mark with tape where the position of the wiper arm meets the windshield; this is because you will have to realign the arm and you need to know where it was originally. Open the hood and look where the wiper arm meets the wiper motor, there will be two 13mm nuts holding the wiper arm down. Remove the nuts and pull out the wiper arm.
Now, CAREFULLY and SLOWLY bend the wiper arm on the perforated section, put the wiper back on to test fit and repeat till the center of the wiper has full contact to the windshield. Realign the wiper and tighten down the bolts.
I suppose somebody can bend it while still attached to the car, but I didn't want to risk anything.
My wipers came out of adjustment recently and I figured out why; because I was lifting the wiper arm (passenger side) from the wiper end and not at the base. Every time you lift the wiper arms to clean the windshield or replace the wipers, lift from the base else you will slowly bend the wiper arm out of adjustment.

I had this problem. I bought an 03 clk500 in 2020 and it had this condition. The wiper blade was gapped away from the glass on the pass side. I bent the arm for more blade pressure on the glass. A lot. Like 3/8" inch. This worked for a while, then the condition returned.
I removed the arm assembly, which is 3 bars of a 4 bar linkage. There are two links attached to the main arm with bearings. A straight link on the end and a dogleg link that attaches about a third of the way from the end.
The dogleg link bearing was sloppy fitting in the housing, the swaging process that holds the bearing is substandard. In short, the linkage gets "out of plane" and the arm doesn't push against the glass anymore.
I tried to realign the links and stake the bearing. That lasted a few months and wallowed out again.
Spend the 150 and buy a new passenger side arm assembly. Install in 15 min. Prob goes away. Worth every penny. Bam.
