Someone broke into my CLK only to steal the car manual
Some idiot decided to break into my car and only steal the car manual. I've been looking online to see what's the deal with that. I don't even remember what was in the manual case, maybe the VIN# though. Should I be worried?

Probably just a low life that bought a CLK and didn't have a manual... With the way people seem to be lacking any sense of morals these days it's probably something that simple.

Sucks ***. The genius bashed the driver side window. I thought I lived in a nice place in town, but maybe that's what made my car the target. I heard making copies of the key is pretty difficult without proper documentation, so hopefully the only damage done is a bashed window and a stolen manual.

Yeah, I agree. A lot of people really suck these days. Morals are like an endangered species.

Making a copy of the key is next to impossible without documentation. Unless you have an inside man.

That really sucks dt.
Consider it somewhat of a blessing. I had a fairly new 91' Z28 stolen. It was found a week later. In the shop for 6 weeks and was never the same after that. Traded it in shortly after that. Funny thing... It was stolen from the dealership 2 days later. The Police came to my house to see if I did it! Seriously.
It doesn't seem to matter where you live anymore.

Yeah, the cop I spoke to said maybe the idiot thought there was a GPS in the case instead of the manual. At least he didn't steal my basketball from the back seat hah.

I agree, I doubt he broke the window just to get the manual and sell it. The manual in the case probably looked like something valuable and he probably felt like an idiot after he stole it

I was told a lot of people recently break into cars to steal registrations. This way when they steal another car that looks like yours it won't be listed as stolen if they get pulled over with no plates/license.

usually thieves target the registration so they can come back for the car later since they know the address where it's kept--I'd invest in a lo-jack and a side arm just in case they come back--I'm surprised the cop didn't tell you this--GL

This could've been some kind of a gang initiation type thing. You know, grab the manual to prove he broke into your car...
Or maybe not gang related necessarily, but more of a dare/proof type thing.
