Can someone tell me what's going on here?
Was doing a little cleaning on the car today and raised hood to do a little wipe down. Tell me what you see in the pics. I haven't heard any unusual noises of late. Took pictures of both sides. The raised one is on the driver side. Suggestions please.

Mine both sit up like that, no worries here.

There is a gap on both sides of mine, neither one sits right down. It was like that with my stock suspension and my Koni's...

I think they should be down tight to the tower top. Under the cap is a nut with a torx head set screw in the middle. How would one go about tightening it down if in fact is supposed to be? Or should it be left to a professional to adjust?

I guess I have to retract my previous statements. I just looked at mine and although they certainly don't sit flush, they are not as high as yours, there is about a 1/4" gap.

Well "normal" sounds like a gap thickness of an 1/8" or so. Mine is much more. Going to have it checked today. Thanks for the post to the w203 thread.

All fixed up. A gap of 3/32" is what the allowance is. Since I am still running the stock struts, he said the nut over time "just works itself loose." Newer struts are designed now with a locking type nut that eliminates that. Thanks for everyone's input.

So they just re tightened the strut nut? Is the nut the hat looking thing or under it?
