I think you are right about your current sizes, but it's been a while since I pulled my wheels. But the ET and size is stamped on the back of one of the spokes. If you have a small mirror you can stick it in there and read it or pull a couple wheels. As for the AMG "package", I don't think there is a 550 without it. So all 550s are the same. But the calipers are larger than a 350 for example. It can be a real pain to figure out what wheels work. The other wheels you are looking at, if true MB wheels, will have the size stamped on them too. If you are not changing width or diameter, your task isn't too hard because ET is the only real issue. As long as you stay pretty close they will work without spacers usually. The only other possible issue is wheel design. ET simply gives a relationship between the centerline of the wheel and the surface where it mounts to your hub. But its says nothing about whether the spokes are designed in a way to clear your calipers. See how your current front spokes bow way out, yet barely clear the claipers? So imagine a wheel with exacly the same dimensions and offset, but with straighter spokes - they may hit. I'm not sure how big an issue that is the real world, but it can be. But as you can see from reading the thread, the whole issue often comes down to trial and error, and I have never seen a "here are the wheels that will fit your car for sure" thread.

Ride change with same sized wheels at each corver

JHouse - did you notice any change in your car's handling when you went to the same sized wheels at each corner?

I am looking for used winter tires/wheel for the 2-3 months of bad seasons and same size all around would be the easiest.

Thanks

Well, I kind of answered my own question to a degree. The E55 front rims were 18 x 8.5 ET30, they fit the back of my clk 550 just fine, but scraped the front of the front calipers. The E55 rear wheels were 18 x 9.5, not sure of the ET. They cleared the rear calipers without a problem, but looked really close to the inside of the rear wheel well. Maybe the 8.5's would have fit the front with a spacer, but overall, I was concerned that the extra 1" width might cause rubbing on the front and the back. The visual difference between the two styles, CLK AMG versus E55 AMG was that the CLK rim spokes bowed out to clear the calipers while the E55 rim spokes were flat in appearance. .... I hope this info helps someone else with the same question.

spacers for 2008 CLK550 with stock 18" AMG chrome wheels

Finally bit the bullet and picked up a black cabriolet 08 CLK 550 with 32,000 miles. Love the car and the power. I'd like to put some spacers on the wheels in order to bring them out as as much as possible. Tried to find posts in forums on this subject but didn't see anything related to stock CLK 18" AMG rims. Seems like H&R and Ichiba are good brands to go with. Trying to stay with hub-centric but was told by H&R folks that this is only available on spacers thicker than 10mm. I would think that 5mm would hardly be noticeable.
I'm looking for the widest possible hub-centric spacers for front and rear without having to make mods (ie. rolling fenders).

I would luv to hear from someone who has done this.

Tires are stock size at 255-35-18 rear and 225-40-18 front. Any experience with spacers for this application?

BTW only other mod I intend to do is to add a front lip.

Dandaco,
I had same car. Swapped original AMG's for 18' BBS that were a bit wider wheel. Still have them if you have interest. I ran 265 rear and 235 front and it looked nice. Also had more meat on road.

I don't know much about tires

Anyone here running Michelin Pilot Super Sports? I upgraded to these tires but I cannot get my tire pressure right. I'm in Victoria, BC now where the elevation is at 0. In Calgary at 3500 ft. above sea level I was running at 38 psi. This worked great but here 38 psi feels like too much and I'm sliding all over the road and spinning until 3rd. I lowered my psi in the rears to 35 but it feels like there is no difference. Tires only have about 3,000 kms and almost full tread.

Can any of you guys let me in on what psi you guys are running in the rear for these tires?

if I remember correct, if you open your gas cap there should be a plate that has the right tire pressure on it.
can't remember the right psi though

A. Post a pic of your car
B. Post wheel: Size, Width, Offset.
C. Tire make/size
D. If using spacers-size and manufacturer. Shortened lug bolts or not.
E. If lowered- what manufacturer and how low. Also, if using a camber kit or not.
F. Any issues with your setup or warnings about previous setups.

So I'm wondering if 18x8 245/40/18 et30 (F) and 18x9 265/35/18 et39 (R) wheel/tire combination fit my CLK? They are stock w211 AMG wheels in case you are wondering. I have (4) 10mm spacers if necessary.

I tried searching for my answer, but gave up at page 10. Can anyone help me out?

OH, btw, here's my girl and her current set-up.

Wheels: Monarch Euro 26 20x8.5 F 20x9.5 R
Tires: Falken 452 225/30/20 et32 F 245/35/20 et35 R
Suspension: H&R coilovers
Lowering: I've lowered so much here and there, I can't even remember anymore
Issues: A bit of rubbing in the rear over big dips, etc. but all avoidable with cautious driving. However, not preventable if I have a rather large passenger in front... OH, and forget putting anyone in the back seat. I've experimented SO much with this set-up and so far and this is the best yet.
Tips: Stick to 19's to maintain full functionality and save lots of $$$$ by NOT going through tires every 9-12k mi. Everyone told me not to go 20, but I'm stubborn! I love and hate it!

Damn Morgan that looks awesome.

245 up front is pretty wide, Especially at et30.

Rolling the fenders might help but I think its still too wide

Alright, so my NEW set-up.

Wheels: OEM W211 AMG 18X8 et30 F and 18x9 et39 R
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 245/40/18 F and 255/45/18 R
Suspension: same H&R coilovers
Spacers: 5mm F and 20mm R
Camber kit: none
Changes: 1/4 inch raise
lug bolts in rear and eventually lug bolts in the front (in order to
get rid of 5mm spacer)
Tips: IT CAN BE DONE!!! Much different look though.

Question for you buddy...... You say H&R coilovers, Which ones do you have?? Do you happen to have a model number? Because I've been doing a search for H&R coilovers, and didn't find any made specifically for W209s.

Here's my wheel set up, pic is from a while back. Car now has 20% tint all around, and will be getting a height adjustment this week.

Wheels: Asanti AF132 19", fronts 19x8.5, backs 19x10
Tires: Cheap beater tires. 235/35/19 front, 265/30/19 back
ET: I don't know, it doesn't say on the wheels.
Suspension: Stock for now, but I'm going with the H&R street coilover system (hopefully)
Spacers: None, read below.
Issues:None, wheels were made specifically for vehicle, front has 6.5" barrel with 2" lip, back has 7" barrel and 3" lip. This is pretty much max barrel and lip size for this vehicle unless the center faceplate is machined down. If center faceplate is machined down any thinner, blades may touch the stock calipers (will touch for sure if it's BBK). Where i have it, it will clear BB kits.

So I have a chance to get really nice set, it's not staggered but I'm fine with that. My question is, they are ET35 all around, and I'm getting mixed info as to the front wheels. Some say it will fit fine, some say I need to get a 5mm spacer. Can some of you who perhaps run Et35 all around confirm that?

Here is the wheels specs:
5x112 bolt pattern
18"x8.5" size
66.5 Center Bore

I photoshopped them on my car, and this is what it can look like if they fit.
Thank You.
