K&N/ MAF sensor - very interesting!!!!
I took this from the Black Series thread where the topic of MAF sensors being damaged by oil from K&N's was being discussed.
Check out the video links..... it is very interesting indeed and may put alot of your minds at rest!
It certainly made me more happier about continuing to use K&N's.
Incidentally, I have never experienced any problems with using K&N's and K&N certainly show why this has been the case.

Good catch Rashman. The article should put the "myth" to rest.
Hey buddy,
Yeah, I was keen to show this to you all because I know alot of guys here are concerned (understandably) about the MAF issues associated with K&N's.
Hopefully, this will give a better understanding of the situation.
A "myth", it certainly seems to be.
Thanks for you post.
I'm almost playing in your league Rash
I'm not against K&Ns and I'm not for them but of course the manufacturer is going to say that they are "great and they don't case any problems". I'm taking this with a grain of salt. I would like to read a impartial review as well.
They work great for you guys so I'm not hating

MAFs are inexpensive and easily replaced; just don’t expect your warranty to make you whole owing to plausible deniability.
Must be noted sensors have regularly failed with OE filters, too.
Dynomite05, your M112K has no MAF.

I have a 2003 F150 and have an air cold intake system with (of course) a K&N Air Filter and have used K&N for years and NEVER heard of oil coming off the filter causing MAFS failure until yesterday. I was told the only filters to replace dirty filters were the factory-installed filters and the MAF should not fail for over 250k miles. BTW, I have never cleaned my trucks Air Flow Sensor and have never had a problem. Impressed with K&N I decided to add their filters to my 2004 CLK320 due to a recent MAF failure at 68k miles at a shocking $400 replacement cost. A very reliable mechanic told me these have an average failure rate of 60K to 65K miles.
After seeing your post and link, I am completely convinced the oil does not affect the MAF (wire) even if it did leave the filter. Your post was most helpful and will continue to use K&N Filters.
