Best Shocks for 05 Clk

Hey guys i need some major advice. Lately my ride has become super bumpy. I had one of my friends, who is a mechanic, check it out and he said that the shocks are dead. Its a 05 clk 320 and im at about 50k miles. This would be the first shock replacement. So i have done my research and from what i found my choices are bilstein hd or sport shocks, koni and kyb.

My question is, which of these choices is the most comfortable? I don't care as much for sporty ride as i do for comfort.

I've got the same as you except mines a cabriolet and I've got the same problem.. Have you fitted lowering springs or is everything all stock?
If you have stock springs a lot of people here recommend the bilstein HD which I think is the B6 kit and if your car is lowered they reccomend the B8 sports as it's a shorter shock.. Also heard KONI yellow sport shocks are really good and you can adjust them

If comfort is your priority, why not go OE?
In my opinion, the stock suspension assembly is quite capable.

thanks for the advice guys. My springs are the stocks ones. I dont want to lower it because my garage is too low :/ it will drag the bumper.

I have never heard of OE, do you guys think its better than bilstein HD or the Koni ones?

Lol... OE means the original equipment from the factory. So basically replacing your shocks for a brand new set of the standard shocks.

mmm. depends what you are looking for. if you are sure you want to stick with stock spring height. look into Koni FSD. they work for non lowered cars and stiffen up in the corners when you want them and soft on the road when your cruising. at least thats what they advertise.

Just get the OEM if you have no plans to modify the ride height.

NO. Unless you like it comfortable with poor handling. Bilstein HD's are still very comfortable but tightens up a bit better. I wouldn't use anything else unless you change your springs.

I've used Bilstein HD on two of my former coupes and was very happy with them.

I have seen several here that say they run the HD shocks with lowered springs.

I put HR lowered springs on my 84 SEC and the Bilstein HD shocks were great and never had a problem with them.

OK so i guess im going with the bilstein HD shocks, they seem like the popular answer. But now after im starting to thing about buying lowering springs as well, i didnt know they would be so cheap. Is there a big difference between the Eibach or H&R?

Eibach lowers 1.2" all around and H&R lowers 1.4" front and 1.3" rear. The H&Rs make te rear look a bit lower. You can raise it a bit by switching to a thicker spring pad.

I have the Koni yellow but they are way overkill if you are just looking for sporty comfort - try the Koni orange. I also have H&R's #4 pads in the rear to level it out), no complaints so far, car is used for a daily and on the track (road course).

wait a minute, so if h&r lowers the front 0.1" more than the back, then why does the back look lower?
