Genuine MB velour floor mats fitment.

Hope one of you will have experience here.

MBSA has finally located a stock of Basalt Grey floor mats for my car. At present fitted with Alpacca Grey which is wrong & possibly wrong size in rear.

The local accessories EPC shows the same part number for both A209 & C209 RHD but they are all marked A209 (from MB Germany).

As you know the A209 Cabriolet has less floor space in the rear than a C209 Coupe due to compromising rear seat position to accommodate the folding roof.

My question is simple ~ Front mats in A209 & C209 are identical.

Are the REAR mats for an A209 & C209 different in size & cut? Or did Benz compromise here with one size fits all?

If one size fits all then I guess I don't know why they mark some for A209 rather than A209/C209 - or just plain W209.

Excuse the Virgo coming out in me!

fwiw, my cab mats are 46.5cm wide (at the widest point) and 38 cm long (front to back)

They are roughly T shaped, with the "leg' of the T going under the front seat.

Thanks - What is the gap from the rear of the seat rail to the cutout approx? This is what I need to compare to a set on a Coupe. All the mats I've seen thus far have the "T" shape fitting nicely behind the seat rails on a Cab but with a big gap on a Coupe. i.e the cross bar of the "T" on a Coupe needs to be wider for perfect fit. Maybe this is a compromise one has to live with so they fit both Cab & Coupe.

The rear mats fit neatly between the seat rails.

Not 100% sure that I have this right.

There is approx 25.5 cm from the rear of the seat rail to the rear "bulkhead". The T is 20cm deep, leaving a 5.5cm gap.

The indentation for the cutout is also around 6cm.

So there is roughly a 5.5x6 cm gap at the rear of the rails.

It is indeed a tight fit between the two rails.

I bought a set of grey mats from a member and was surprised when they didn't match the grey of my 2006 CLK interior, so I then assumed that the grey changed every year. I believe that the member had his in a 2005, and my SA says the right ones for my VIN is 6-6-29-4126; do you know if that's basalt or alpaca grey?

NO LONGER ACTIVE
I suspect the coupe and cabriolet rear mats are identical. I checked the CLK cabriolet mats against the W203 C240 sedan's today and they are exactly the same size. In fact, they would be interchangeable except that the rear edge of the C240's mats have a contour to fit properly around the rear seat base where the cabriolet's are straight. My guess is the extra rear seat room in the coupe is actually in the seat itself and not the floorboard.

Arrrgghh! Glyn, my service advisor ordered my mats based upon my VIN, but they're THE SAME color as the ones I have, far lighter than the car's carpets. Is "Alpaca gray" darker??

Those are Alpaca Grey mats. Your car is Basalt Grey the same as mine.

Something has obviously been wrong in the MB VIN system post facelift. My RHD VIN also ended up with a match being incorrectly shown as Alpaca Grey. So I ordered by colour & got the Basalt Grey mats which are a perfect match & installed. I will take a pic if you would like me to. I would return those mats.

Here was my original foul up. Car photographed under sodium lamps with fill flash so there is some colour shift. Grey is darker than shown.

Eddie ~ Alpaca Grey was dropped at the facelift apart from special order internationally. I can't guarantee this for the US.

After the facelift, discounting "designo" etc. the standard interior trims were Black, Basalt Grey & Pebble Beige until production ceased in 2009.

I'm thinking that maybe that's not how mine got ordered wrong, as my SA had quoted me the part number 6-6-29-4126, but that wasn't the part number on the Alpaca mats that I returned earlier today (I didn't even notice it till they were taking the mats back over the counter so I don't recall what it was). Since 6-6-29-4126 is so close to B6-6-29-4127, maybe they're both Basalt in color? Somehow, between emailing the part number 6-6-29-4126, and then getting the go ahead from me to order them some two months later (after coming up empty looking for a better price, and an "Employee Pricing on Vehicle Accessories‏" sale beginning at the dealership, knocking the price to $106 from $147.84) the mats ordered were a different part number. My new ones will be in on Tuesday, then I'll try to sell the nearly-new Alpaca mats I've had for years.

So, is it only the 2003 and 2004 MY's that are "pre-facelift," or are 2005's included as well?

Globally W209 was produced from 2002. 2005 was a crossover year with early cars being being pre facelift & later cars being post facelift.

ROW does not really think in MY's like the US. They think in production years & accept that there is a X over period.

Both W203 & W209 were launched in the US one year later than the ROW. e.g. W203 was launched ROW in 2000.

Glyn, I just got my correct Basalt Grey mats, and they match the carpeting perfectly. There are a couple of differences from the Alpaca Grey that I had, beyond the color. First of all, the driver's side mat is shorter, and a completely different shape, with a flap for the left foot-rest and a stub at the gas pedal side. Secondly, instead of an embroidered "Mercedes Benz" and star, they have a metal plate attached with that engraved. Same for you?

When I ordered a new set in black last fall, 6-6-29-4119, the parts guy said they had changed. The new fronts have the metal tag like yours, and the rear mats have a diagonal cut at the inboard(?) rear corner instead of being rounded like the originals. Each of the rears has a fabric label that includes what looks like a date: 01/06 on one and 02/06 on the other (so not that new?).

A204 468 03148 and 03248 rear mats are just slightly too wide but usable in the cab except that they project too far under the front seats and cover the HVAC floor outlets, and they have the delicately curved rear edge that pushes them slightly ahead. With the coupe having a longer rear footwell, these mats could be another alternative.
