SHIFTS ON DTC M3 COMPARABLE TO CLK550?
Almost new to the w209 forum
Had a couple of questions since I'm looking out for a clk
My question is:
How comparable is the clk500 and 550 to the DTC on an e92 m3? Ive driven a an e92 M3 with DTC, an 06 M5(e60) with smg and an 06 bmw 550i with steptronic. All seem to be quite on par, the m3 of course blowing out the others in terms of delay in shifts(.000000001 of a second lol) Anyway, i was wondering how 03-09 clk500's would compare to that? Or clk 550s?
I currently own an 02 c230 coupe compressor and the shifting SUCKS. The delay is ridiculous, its tiptronic so i don't expect much. Moving onto a v8 i expect it to be better esp if its an 07. So any opinions would be nice.

Closest to the 2006 550i Steptronic, maybe even a little bit slower. Mercedes makes its regular automatics shift smoothly and does not really prioritize speed. The double-clutch (from all companies) are on their own level

I don't even have the car yet lol! Soon! Can anyone let me know if they see a 550 around $18-20k!
Hmm what exactly is the slushbox adaptives? By the sound of it I'm guessing it's adaptive driving mechanism
In the car. And how would I go about doing this?
Btw I've read many of your posts, I applaud you for your knowledge on these fine machines. Thanks for the reply

I certainly don't know more about these cars than a lot of guys here but I've always figured that if you're going to modify and race a car, you better understand it really well right from the beginning. I've got lots of help around here, great group of guys, the least I can do is put some threads together on my experiences.
Good luck with your purchase.

You can flash a new tune into the TCU of the 5 speeds, nothing for the 7 speed, I've looked everywhere, it'll improve te shift firmness and speed somewhat. Have you reset the slushbox adaptives? You'll be socked at the difference if you haven't - most of us around here d it monthly.

These cars 'learn' the way we drive, unfortunately we're always in stop and go traffic and long hauls on the freeway. The shifts get slow and soft, the pedal gets lazy. Put the key in and to 'on', not 'start', push the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold for 5 seconds, release the pedal, turn the key to 'off' and leave it in the ignition. Let it sit for 5 minutes to clear the adaptives. It'll feel like a whole new car.
