Glad to hear the news mine are getting installed Tuesday. Did you do them yourself ? If not may I ask how much you paid. My Indy quoted 250.00..

I find this interesting. It's obvious that cars destined for South Africa have very different spring rates & sways.

I can't imagine fitting firmer sways than my car has. It is totally planted & in local roadtesting our Car magazine commented that it was one of the most planted cars they had tested.

The sways are so stiff that traversing any depression diagonally will lift a rear wheel. I love it.

Enjoy yours!

I had them installed on my car several months ago, and I fell the same about the improved handling and feel of the car. Did you set yours to the softer or firmer setting? I initially used the softer setting, fearing the ride would be too firm; later moved them tot he firmer setting with no regrets. Great mod......

None, just the sways for now. Coilovers soon though.

$100, it only took like an hour of actual labor.

Agreed. I'm on the firmer setting, car is more fun in the corners now. Hopefully I don't get into too much trouble.

I believe the H&R sways are thicker and 2x the cost of BS sways.

Did mine several months ago. Best mod to the car ever.

I take Topanga Cyn and Mulholland Hwy to work daily and they really pay off. Super easy install too...only hand tools and about an hour each.

Best part is no noticeable effect on ride quality, even on the "firm" setting.

+1

Great Mod. I'm running OEM springs and still noticed a big improvement in the handling department! Good for those people who don't want to lower their car but still want to improve handling.

Congrats! Did you do both front and rear or just the front?

And apologies for the noob question, but for the front, H&R has two models for the 209, one with 10mm endlink holes and one with 12mm. What are end-link holes and how do I find out what my car has?

Thanks!

I did both front and rear...70392-2 and 71392. I'm not sure if they have sway bars for your car. I just looked at the H&R application guide: http://www.hrsprings.com/scripts/appguide.php

The sway bar bolts up to the end link bars in your suspension. The end link bar has the male end and the sway bar has the female end. So the end link bar will have either a 10mm or 12mm bolt that needs to fit the hole in the sway bar. You could try calling the dealership's parts department, providing them your VIN and asking about the size of your end link. I would think that you have 12mm.

iirc it's 10mm for the V6s and 12mm for the V8s but models after 2004 (or maybe 2005?) need the 2003 bushings to install the sways properly.

I'm not all entirely certain, it's been a while since I've delved into this. Give your dealer a call!

You could order bushings straight from H&R. It will be tight since the H&R bar is thicker but will torque up tight. The rear H&R bars could use the existing bushings, however I would recommend purchasing new bushings from Mercedes, which will cost about $12 total!

Yes, 10mm. As for the bushings, you don't need to change those, the ones in the H&R kit are correct for the bar size, what you need to do is use the 2003 MB sway bar bushing brackets. My 05 has the newer style that the H&R bushings don't fit into, I had to get the older style to properly finish the installation.

I'm out of the country but when I get back to Dubai tonight I'll post up the part numbers for you.

You should definitely notice the difference in reduced body roll and steering response. I set mine to the firmer setting after initially using the less firm setting. I prefer the firmer.
