Talking New Member, my first CLK, MOD options

Hi there! Just wanted to take a moment and say hello to all the MB enthusiasts on here. Been browsing through the forum a little since I purchased my 2006 CLK 350 in capri blue with cream interior. Haven't seen one with that exterior/interior combo in LA, so happy I took my time looking for it. My first Benz so far but already looking forward to making some nice mods and upgrades to make it stand out a little from the stock configuration.

The car overall is in excellent condition. Interior is flawless, the steering wheel was the only place that was showing some wear so already swapped that out with the wood finish steering wheel. Steamed cleaned the seat belts, the previous owner was obviously a stranger to keeping hands clean lol. Bought some new floor mats and hooked up iPod integration kit. Swapped out the manual AC control unit with the digital one. And added white gauges overlay.

The engine is perfect too, the car has only 90K on it.

Exterior is very good with the exception of the front bumper that was repaired/welded but whoever did it, didn't spend much time trying to sand it even and hide the repair area. Also instead of removing it to have it painted, they did a lousy job with mask taping around it, so had to address some overspraying here and there. So far exterior wise I swapped out the grille, opened the headlights and painted the outer shrouds black and added an LED strip, but am eventually swapping them out for bi-xenon ones.

With that said, I am looking to swap the entire bumper and get wether the classic AMG or Rieger front kit. Not entirely thrilled with the Lorinser one.

My question to those of you who did do some body kit swaps etc, where besides eBay can I look for some front bumpers (kits) and at the same time not pay way too much for it. Any sites, recommendations would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Congrats on the car - it looks great! Where did you get your steering wheel? As for the bumper, check with a local body shop. They often have access to aftermarket parts. Give them the VIN of a V8 or AMG to search with (use eBay to find one). I think the V8 "sport" bumper is a bolt-on, but I seem to recall the actual AMG bumper requiring some extra parts.

Thanks!! Slowly I will turn it into my vision whatever that is.
I actually got lucky and found the wheel on eBay.

Thank you. Just trying something different. But might actually do acrylic rod, which will look more flawless ...

to open the headlight just put it in the oven for about 4 - 5 minutes at 400F, and then simply pull it apart. When done just squeeze the lens back on, put it in the oven for 2 minutes, and squeeze it tight.

Dude--those LED lights are SICK--I'm not that big into making modifications because I think they always end up looking like the parts are from Pep Boys or something lame--but yours look AWESOME! Well done!!!!

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm on the same boat with LED mods etc, I was a bit unsure how they would turn out, having LEDs and Angel Eyes on my other rides, I felt like the W209 seemed naked. I played with a few placements and decided that this would probably be the least evasive and yet would give a clean look. Painting sections of the headlight and the upper turn signal piece conceals it nicely imho. I'm however swapping those out for quads so will probably put them for sale.

I like the grill you installed, I have been thinking of swapping out my own for that same model.

Thanks man! Yeah I think it compliments the car better than the stock, especially any dark colored CLK. I'm adding a chrome trim around it, will post pics later.
