Removing factory iPod adaptor??

As it is well known, the factory iPod adaptor really blows. Impossible to read and very hard to maneuver thru the MFD in the dash.
It occurs to me - it would be better if I just had a plain old 1/8" headphone jack input rather than the 30 pin Apple connector. Then I could Pandora and listen to streaming podcasts as well.
Is there any way to unconvert the factory iPod connector back?
thanks in advance.
I have a thread about it here.

So if I stream your way I dont think I can use the phone. If I plug the 1/8" in, I can listen to my podcasts and Pandora, but if I get a call the iPhone will pause everything and let me answer the call.
Hahaha been there done that. It's awesome and works great for about 2-3 months and then your phone starts to get a s*** ton of bugs.
Yeah I jailbroke 3 of my iPhones and it was the same exact pattern.

Haha I hate bugs. Yeh I've heard of some people with some bugs. That's why I'm still debating. Have been for 2 years haha.

I'll take a try in the audio forum....

I have no problems whatsoever with the factory iPod connector. I don't have an iPhone. Instead, I use an old 60GB iPod connected in the glove box. I take it out once every few weeks to sync some new music (yes, I know, I could buy a new iPod Touch and sync via WiFi, but then I'd have to spend some money with Apple instead of Mobile 1...) I really don't mind the limited text in the MFD, and I've learned how to quickly navigate my playlists via the steering wheel controls. Besides, I usually listen to the same 20-30 songs in my "favorites" playlist anyhow - you know, some Chili Pepper, Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, etc. - so it's not that hard to deal with.
