Insane Idea To Deal With Lovebugs ?

For those of you in the south east, you know that the hell of Lovebug season is fast approaching... those horrible little beasts encrust themselves into your front end as if they were full of super-glue.
I had some work done on my car last week and while I was there one of the techs said that they actually ingest some of the exhaust and emissions from your car - supposedly they fancy it as a post-coitus snack - and when they splatter against your bumper, those chemicals actually further the erosion of your paint job.
I read the other thread on here that said to spray your front end with WD40 -- but my tech at the dealership said that I should spray PAM non-stick cooking spray to coat the front end, that they did that in Florida and they just slide right off, never actually able to stick. That just sounded freaking nuts to me... will that damage my paint job?
I was also considering getting my clk a bra but I was told about the rusting issues and decided against it. This is my second summer down here, and I can still see some of the spots from last summer -- what to do?
Has anyone tried any of this? Does anyone know anything better?
