CA must charge based on the value of the vehicle. I just paid $70 for 4 years in Oregon on my C230k sedan. ML was the same when I purchsed it a year ago.

I think Florida goes by size/weight of the vehicle. I just renewed my W209 for $43.10 for a full year.

I estimate that the Colorado fees for the 2004 CLK320 will be about $1,500. I used to pay $45 in New Mexico.

license & registration fees are definitely an annual fee...

for some, its just a registration fee. i pay annual license fee for a personalized vanity plate...

When I lived in Boston Massacheusetts, My 1998 E430 's "Excise Tax" for the first year was about $1100 and went down to about $700 the second year. Unfortunately you must pay and no way around it How do you think a wellfare state pay for the cost of social services.

This State is all screwed up. Are our roads not congested enough?? Are there not enough pot-holes and crap on our freeways, and our government doesnt even have the money to maintain everything?? And now they want to give out 2 mill drivers' licenses. What the hell!!!!!! This stupid government is conatantly asking for more and more money from us, yet at the same time screws up our business and economy.
