Hello MBWorld! I have officially started the process of going to quad exhaust! Today I just went to my body shop and got my bumper cut and within a few days I'm going to get my exhaust installed. I currently have a muffler delete only. My setup (thanks to Fatz) is going to be like this: Remove the resonator, place Magnaflow X-Pipe (PN#10791) in place of the resonator, all the way to quad AMG replica tips which I got from EuroStyle here on the forums. I'll post pictures of my bumper cut and the parts soon and will update the thread when I get the exhaust installed. Feel free to ask any questions or provide any comments! Thank you to all that have helped me so far!
EDIT: Page 2 shows the full exhaust installation and final product.
Here is a cold start: Fly-By:

Here is the Magnaflow X-Pipe and the replica AMG tips
Looks like they did a really good job on the cut outs.... Way to go.
Isn't it nice to be sick with a fever (mods) and not even mind it.......

Yeah I'm really satisfied with the cutout. Now I have to make sure I tell my exhaust guy to get align the tips so they don't rub the bumper. Originally Posted by Fatz

Yes it's pretty cool to have mod fever

Yeah I'm gonna put my x pipe after the cats and go all the way to the tips.Originally Posted by megacrazy
So wait, no exhaust or resonator at all?
Well you're gonna make some noise that's for sure haha.

Haha yeah but if it's too loud in the cabin I'm gonna put 2 vibrant resonators (PN 1792) but it shouldn't be unbearable in the cabin according to my exhaust guyOriginally Posted by megacrazy

Well that's relative. I am running 2 resonators and it's probably at the upper scale of the noise range...my noise range that is. See how it turns out Originally Posted by kb24forlife24

Take a look at my build thread. Primaries and secondaries are in place, x pipe, separate resonators to tips.

Just saw your thread and WOW that is a really clean CLK. Your setup is basically my setup except the two resonators. What kind of resonators are they?Originally Posted by megacrazy

Thanks. They're Vibrant 1792's. You could go with something longer if you want it to be quieter.

OK that's the resonator I would get if my setup is too droney. Where did you place the resonators and x pipe? I'll listen to your exhaust clip when I get out of class in a few hours to gauge what mine could sound likeOriginally Posted by megacrazy

The xpipe is right after the secondary cats. Then it splits up into 2 separate pipes, each with 1 resonator. Try without the resonator first. That way we'll have a clear understanding what the volume difference is haha.

Awesome, more quads!
I have the magnaflow X, with 2 magnapack resonators afterwards leading into quad tips. Cat/res delete. You are gona love this!
edit: i ran for about 5 months with no extra resonators, just xpipe into quads with all straight piping... it was def loud! Sounded like a beast though but I eventually felt bad for my neighbors... and my GF haha

Do you have any clips of this figuration (with the magnapacks)? And did your x pipe into quads drone and at which RPM/speed? Oh yeah I am not gonna touch my cats because I live in CA haha. I have to re-cut my bumper because it's too small and my exhaust guy said I can only do 2.0" piping. How big is your piping?Originally Posted by Pufftrees

see if you can do a before and after dyno. so we can see much power increase there is or any.
i have 2.5" piping on my quad setup. i mimicked Kevwood's setup and i have no drone.

I can't do a 2.5" setup all the way because of my spare tire well, the gap would be extremely tight. I'm gonna do 2 or 2.25 after the x pipe. I don't think I can dyno it lolOriginally Posted by PhiGamm

I am running 2.5 in and there is plenty of space. If the shop gives you the runaround go somewhere else, where they know what they're doing.Originally Posted by kb24forlife24

As far as dyno I doubt it would make any difference at all to warrant the cost of the pulls.

My shop showed me a 2.5 inch pipe and it was hugging both sides of the wheel well and the side opposite that, so I don't know how your 2.5" pipe fit. If you could get a picture that would be great Originally Posted by megacrazy

. This shop is really good because they explained all these things to me; the other shops just said "yeah we could do it" and nothing else. Oh whoa that's a lot of space. Maybe they had a bigger pipe and thought it was 2.5"? I'll have to contact them again and show them this picture. But for now i'm gonna have to get my bumper cut a little more because the gap is too tight for the tips. Thanks again for that picture!

2.5" should fit, but it isn't necessary. For the bhp of these cars 2.25" is enough to handle WOT and extended periods over 5000 rpm. Most owners don't drive that way.... Originally Posted by megacrazy

Besides, those gases will move more quickly through a smaller pipe, which is good.
The bend and weld quality may be more important as the pipe size, after a point.
