Suction Cup GoPro test on the side of my CLK 550.
watch in HD!

I've used mine, mounted to the rear of the car, to capture exhaust sound. I've driven up to 90 with the camera attached by suction and haven't lost the camera... yet. It works well as a dash cam also.

I just purchased a GoPro suction mount a few days ago to chronicle our vacation in Spain and France when we go to visit our daughter away at school.
I did wish to test it out at home first but would rather have had video of it flying off the car over there than at home.
Even though I have tethers for our surfboards I didn't think of using one for the suction mount (yes, I'm a goof sometimes); thanks for its mention!
I'm assuming that it did not come with one so I'll look for or make something.
I thought of using a nylon coated wire leader typically used for fishing.
Anyone out there do the same?
I don't have the luxury (Ha!) of a hard top so I have a bit less space to play with but I can't wait to start using it.
Can you share some still images of your mounts on the car, please?
And additional tips/tricks that you discover?
I'll do the same when I'm up and running.
Best, Evan

Amazon has it for $26.
There are others available for much less but I would not risk it unless it was to mount inside the vehicle.

I was unable to find a spool of loose nylon coated steel leader but found a three-pack of 24" Leaders, 45lb. test. (see pic).
I removed the double-keep from one end and added it to the end with the swivel.
Snake the bare loop end through the GoPro housing pin and pull the swivel through, then attached the double keep. The keep is a bit of a pain; you may find it easier to pull the leader through/around than to open the keep and try to re-close. You'll understand if you fiddle with it for a while.
I then attached the keep end through one of the holes in the trunk lid hinge. It does not interfere with the mechanics or get pinched.
This is easily removed and it should not present a problem with the surface as it is nylon coated and fairly soft.
When I get the suction mount I'll post additional pics as well as some video if it looks of interest.
This is fun. Thanks Ferdaayz et al.
Best, Evan

[/IMG]I also used an extra anchor from my unused surf mounts. It's tougher to close the keep, though, and I wonder if it would ever come loose over time? It would still be difficult to make its way through the skinny crack of a closed trunk.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I will post some pics when I get home from work!

My GoPro mount is supposed to show up tomorrow or Thursday.
I have no plans to take it much past the speed limit around town but one of my friends at the local MB dealership has an AMG sedan and he takes it to a track regularly. He invited me to join him later this summer.
I forgot that I still have my side glass to attach the mount (goofed again); imagining that I would have the top down at all times.
I would assume that the glass would be the most reliable surface to attach to.
Post some pics or video, please.
And best to everyone, Evan

Then I got another idea - could I mount it to the front bumper?
Well, I had an extra GoPro Surf mount so I looked for a place to attach it.
I came up with the fog lamp trim and goofed around to come up with what you see (below).
The camera points slightly to the left but it gives a great angle and given its attachment point, the wind noise has really diminished. You can hear some engine noise as well (I may later try it with a skeleton back).
Hopefully I can get the vids to load properly but this is fun for a start.
Many thanks to everyone for the inspiration. Best, E
