Dealer's Last Attemp To Fix

Just as a quick recap, I took my car in for the engine ticking, brake squeak, FM reception and put in K&N air filters. After 6 days in service, nothing on the car was fixed and they charged me $70 for replacing the air filters.

I sent a "nice" email to my salesperson telling him about the service department's failure, the $70 charge and the fact that members of this board have the same problems as I do and the potential fixes all of you have mentioned. I also told him that there is a service bulletin for the engine ticking that the service department failed to identify and gave him the number.

He promptly called me and told me I should go through him before making a service appointment and to bring the car in next week "to make things right." It seems like he's implying that customers get different treatment by going through their salespersons instead of just making appointments on their own.

Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted as this saga continues. One of my friends offered to assume my lease....I may just take him up on his offer and get a Cayenne.

blankets...

they sent one to me in november, i believe, up in the northeast.

quite a surprise, and just what i needed considering i'd just begun to spend an inordinate amount of time in south florida.

nice thought, bad timing. but that's MB for ya'!

if only they could fix the CARS before they peddle them to us.

perhaps then they wouldn't have to recapture our good opinions.

just a thought to ponder as i ready myself to drift into a sleep filled with automotive fantasies. ;-)

I'm impressed for the first time with the dealership. I dropped the car off yesterday morning and it was ready in the afternoon. I was told they replaced motor mounts, brake pads and rotors. But after looking at the receipt, I'm not sure. Maybe someone here can translate the below. I picked up the car at 9pm so there was no one from service around to answer my questions. Here's how my receipt reads:

009151 Road Test

A. Brakes:

401590 Wheels- Two, R&R
422706 Brake Pads - Front, R&R/Repl. if Req.
422743 Brake Discs - Front, Clean with sanding pads
1 BG860 Stopsqueal
1 001-989-87-51 Brake Paste

B. Engine Ticking:

221260 Front Engine Mounts - Left & Right Side, Repl.
2 220-240-27-17 Rubber Mount
820000 Level Sensor For Headlamps Broke Off Sway Bar. Replace.
1 010-542-77-17 Sender Unit

Brakes seemed to be fine, but I think I heard ONE short squeak this morning. I'm gonna drive with the radio turned down for a while and really take a listen.

I was told they replaced the pads and rotors but my feeling is that's b.s. and they just sanded and applied some paste to them. If anyone could decode my invoice copied above, I would appreciate it. I'm through dealing with this dealer.

by the look of that invoice... your brakes were NOT replaced.

A. Brakes:

401590 Wheels- Two, R&R
422706 Brake Pads - Front, R&R/Repl. if Req.
422743 Brake Discs - Front, Clean with sanding pads
1 BG860 Stopsqueal
1 001-989-87-51 Brake Paste

R&R = remove and replace. but it says replace if required.
then the brake rotors. it only say they cleaned it with sanding pads but nothin about replacing the whole rotors.
usually some stopsqueal and brake paste will quiet your brakes down. if yuo still find that distrubing you should go complain again saying that it is not enough.
