Hello All,
I own a 2004 CLK500 and both of my Catalytic Converter seem to have gone south. This Cats are the second pair that have gone bad and my car has overpass the 80k warranty.
I am looking to see where I can get a pair of Cats either stock or aftermarket at a good price and/or if anyone knows a site where I can get them at a good price.

If your catalytic converters are failing that quickly, something else is wrong. A rich mixture can cause this, but you'd likely have an MIL for anything that would cause it. , Back pressure can cause this, too, due to overheating. When the first cats went out, did you also replace all the resonators and muffler? The reason MBZ only sells cats as part of the entire exhaust system is because as they fail, they spew molten metal into the exhaust where it can lodge int he other parts.

Make sure you check the other online MBZ dealers. No one has the best price on all parts, and shipping can vary based on where you are located relative to the dealer.

If you previously "gutted" the cats and the car ran ok, how can they now give you a problem? There is nothing there to fail (generally clogging) except for the shell to develop a hole.Originally Posted by zuzu_pali
