Parktronic Issue / Window Key Press Issue
Just picked up my first 2004 CLK240 today, so far i'm in love with the vehicle and I can't wait to begin the tasteful mods. However, i've noticed two issues with the car that are annoying me.
1. The vehicle has front and rear parktronic sensors. However, for some reason they seem to be turned off via the button on the dash, when I press the button and they turn on again, they make a 3 second long beep and disable again. Could it be a faulty sensor? Where do I even begin to diagnose this fault?
2. A long press of the lock or unlock button on the key won't close the windows or open them. I'm pointing the key at the driver door handle but unfortunately they still won't go up or down. I've heard I might have to get the dealer to re-set this function, but i'm not sure.
3. On my old E270, when the car was in reverse the passenger side mirror moved down to allow me to parallel park. Do the CLK's have the same functionality?
Thanks in advance for your help!

1. The parktronic system is designed in a way where if only one individual sensor is faulty, the entire system will shut down as you describe in order not to give erroneous data. IF you don't have access to a STAR diagnostic system which would tell you which sensor is faulty, try making sure all sensors are seated properly. Sometimes they get loose or come out of their holding brackets and that makes a bad connection.
2. Try the feature at night when there is no light and let me know if it works then. Mine works 100% at night and 90% during the day. I've read in other threads that it's bad solder points inside the infra-red port to which you point out the key. Do some research on it and you'll find plenty of information on how to fix it.
3. That's an option of the CLK especially the European versions. Not a standard item.
Thanks for your quick response! I'm in love with the car already.
1. I unfortunately don't have access to a star, i'll have a look next weekend and see if I can diagnose it correctly.
2. I just went into the garage and tested the remote again and unfortunately it doesn't work at night either. I've heard that maybe I need a new battery inside the key?
3. I'm from Australia, so I believe we are delivered Mercs with many of the Euro features. So maybe it has it? I know my old E-Class did and it wasn't on the option sheet.
Thanks again

2. Try a new battery for sure and let's see if that changes things.
3. I owned a 2003 CLK 320 in Canada which had the feature but my current 2005 CLK 320 does not have it. If my memory serves me right, you can enable/disable the feature from the menu in the instrument cluster. See if you can find the setting.

2. I tried the secondary key and it worked perfectly. The key i'm using now is the upgraded silver one. Wonder if that has anything to do with it?
3. Nothing in my instrument cluster, all i have there is some options for convenience lighting and the clock adjustment etc

As for the dipping mirrors, I guess that answers it.
I might go and see the dealer in regards to the rear mirror tilt and see if they know anything

Next stop, install luxury climate controls
