Exclamation Peeling "Leather" Center Console

Does anyone have any idea on how to repair/restore this? Or is this a non fixable wear and tear? This is wear I rest my arm while driving...had no idea this would be the result of resting my arm.

Any advice would be appreciated this is truly sore to the eyes.

I just removed a center console lid for 1 of my customers. They have the same issue on a car with under 40k miles. They were just going to bring it to a local interior shop to be recovered.

It's a very thin vinyl MB used on that part. And you cannot buy just that part. What you need to buy will cost like $650. Better to take it to an upholstery shop. Get it done in vinyl or leather.

It's kind of a PITA to take just that off - not hard, just requires patience and beer. It's been a while so i don't remember exactly, but pull the cup holder - one screw under the rubber - then there is one screw in front near the top, then there are 6 underneath inside - three on each side. All Torx - best to have a small ratchet.

FYI the is a Polish outfit http://www.redlinegoods.com. No affiliation but myself and lots of folks on LS1Tech.com got them to make lots of custom leather stuff (shift boots, door panel inserts, etc). If they have a loaner piece to work with they will make anything. They do nice work and are reasonable. For a part like that I'm thinking $149ish.

Console repair

Hi - I am the customer Gixxerboy removed my console trim for, mine wore in the exact same spot. Took it to the dealer (I bought the car new there) a few years ago for repair and they used vinyl putty which made it look worse and it didn't last, and I was charged $440. After Gixxerboy removed the piece (it has several clips and 6 or 8 screws that hold it from the bottom) I took it to ASM Auto Upholstery here in Dallas, same shop the guys from Fast and Loud use.

Sue the owner looked at it and asked what happened to it, I explained the repair and we both agreed it was a terrible attempt. She said give her a couple of days and it would be $150. I told her to match it as close as possible. When I went to pick it up I could not believe my eyes. It looked like a brand new piece from the MB factory. The material was the same Stone color, the seams were exactly the same. I don't know where you live but if you can't find a good upholstery shop near you I'm sure you could send it to ASM.

I love that interior color, but with kids and my OCD I'd have to kill em. Nice job on the fix though.

Lol, she must be a good actress because she is the nicest, soft-spoken person you will ever meet.

If she is like many Asian women I know, that can change in an instant.
