Check oil level at next refueling? 2006 CLK350 GONE SEXUAL! (in the hood)
i keep getting this check oil level at next refueling message... i had the oil changed at the local benz dealer 5k miles ago, i checked the oil myself it was still golden and still at the full line. yet i get this message nearly everytime i drive for the last couple days.. any insight? please help
Mine did the same thing when it was low on oil. Might want to check to see if you're a quart or two low. Topping it off should fix the problem if thats it.

I realize that. I didn't say it was the problem. I said if it is the problem. Could be many different things. Best bet it to take it to your local indy and have them see whats going on.
Make sure you're properly checking the oil level. It can take awhile for the oil to drain back into the pan, so wait until the engine has cooled and ensure that the car is on a level surface and not on an incline. Dry the dip stick level markers well. Check it 2-3 times, drying the level markers well between each measurement.
Not knowing how the car reads the oil level, I would take it to an indy if the readings were at or above 1/2 quart low (about half the tick marks) and you are still getting the message.

yeah i did that i waited a little over an hour and all that i doubt the benz dealer screwed me ive been going to that dealer for over 4 years theyve always done a good job
The oil level sensor may be bad. But I will add that the lower mark on the dipstick means it's 2 quarts low. My CLK550, if halfway between the marks, would give me this error when driving fast around corners.
It may be a little low on oil then, fill it up to the full mark and see if it still happens.
The car should have enough reserve capacity to not do that, but if it's particularly sensitive it may. Your sensor may be on it's last legs or the engine could be sludged up and oil isn't draining back down fast enough at higher rpms causing the pan to be too low level. Or the oil could be foaming up for a variety of reasons, which is detected by the sensor as low oil levels.
UPDATE EVERYONE so i checked the oil level again and it was down to the half way mark, i put 2 quarts of the same oil i always use syn pennzoil 5w40 and that got it to 75 percent up between the min and full line. ive attached a pic of what the oil looks like on the dipstick, is this normal color?
so basically i think the sensor is fine and is working well but now im wondering whats causing my car to through oil so quickly.. my last oil change was 5k miles ago and the dealer didnt say anything about an oil leak.. and underneath my car oil has never leaked.. i do remember about a year ago during my last oil change the dealer said there was some slight seepage of the oil but they said it was nothing to worry about because it was extremely minimal and wasnt even reaching the oil pan.. im praying this doesnt have anything to do with the balance shaft issue that affects m272 engines..
2 quarts only brought it from half way to 3/4? That seems odd. From MIN to MAX should be less than 2 quarts.
At the risk of just throwing parts at it, you may want to replace the sensor at the next oil change (since you lose all the oil when removing the sensor) and see how it goes.

I agree.... Unless the dip sticks are very different, I would say you've over filled. I would check the level again after it has sat for an hour or two. I over filled once. It gets sorta messy when that oil fill cap releases oil due to the pressure.....
I drive at around 2K RPM most of time.... Two oil leak repairs I've had done over the past year are 1. air-oil separator (oil pooling on top of intake manifold) and 2. oil cooler gaskets (oil leak under high rpm).
update so when i put the 2 quarts in there it didnt go from min to 75 percent i checked it and it actually went to little bit over max, but still on the red part of the dipstick not the metal part is it ok if its just a tiny bit over full? considering how quickly my car went through oil (5k miles) i figured this excess oil will seep out anyway..
When I over filled by less than a quart, I got oil being released by the oil filler cap. In my case, I still got a bit of oil from the oil fill cap after I used the mityvac to remove ~1.5 quart. After checking the level several times I replace the oil filler cap to fix the residual problem ($13 from a dealer).
The smoke from burning oil on the headers is hard to miss....
I have a 2006 clk 350 that check oil message just started to come on for me check oil it's right at full mark my question is does the sensor read just the oil level in oil pan just want to make sure it's not the oil pump going out i don't know if there is a way to check oil pressure
