I had a rear view camera installed. I had previously had an aftermarket head unit put in, and recently popped the $ to have steering wheel controls added. During that work I bought a reverse camera, but did not have the time to have it completed at that time.
Works well, especially useful with the roof up.
I did not want one that attached to the license plate, as I have issues with the 4 bolts that hold that on, and did not want anyone removing and replacing those.
So a not quite stealthy install, but I'm fine with it.
Did a Service A on my 2009 CLK. Road trip ready to Florida on the 25th. When I get down there my 2004 CLK will need a service A as well. So Service A's all around. CLK55 is good.
My parking brake had been sticking for a while. I decided to beat some sense into it. Lifted the rear seats up, took off the fabric cover, opened the access hatch and cleaned everything with some WD40 while furiously pumping the parking brake pedal. I also turned the middle nut a couple times clockwise which fixed the slight slack in the cables. All good now. Took about 20 mins and was very easy.
Did some preliminary investigating on the 320CLK convertible
We had heavy rain & downpours here in NNJ. She called to say her back seat had a lot of water in it & she was worried.
It was the passenger seat, so tomorrow is clean, test, and if all is well, give the car a good waxing and 303 waterproof the roof again.
I've found that using just tap water on the inside of the windows works best. You can add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid if you like. Use a microfiber towel. I have a small 2-3 oz sprayer which makes it easier to not spray anything else. Not that it would hurt anything else.

Brought to order a stubborn soft top reluctant to open. Not that I would open it by 40°C under the south of France sun. Rounded up all the usual suspects ending with... the easiest culprit: relays grrrrr
Hooked up the clk550 to xentry and did some testing. Compression check shows low compression in # 2 cylinder. Hopefully it's just valve spring issue, and not rings/valves
I've noticed a reduction in steering response over the past year. It got to a point that I noticed understeer during quick maneuvers and though it was due to wearing front tires - not to the wear bar. There has been a pop/plunk sound occasionally when I first come to a stop after having the car jacked up from one side. The steering wheel became off-center. The tires were replaced a few thousand miles ago and aligned.
This week had the steering rack bushings replaced and realigned. Tremendous difference. Response is immediate and accurate. I had bushings replaced because I am recovering from illness and I didn't feel up to it but it could be a DIY if you can press off the4 bushings. There were four bushings replaced. They are metal with a rubber covering. Mine were badly worn (184K miles). Two were worn to where the inner metal was visible. The bushings are about 25-40 dollars each and took about 3 hours labor + $100 for alignment. BTW if you have someone to rock the steering wheel you can see that the steering rack rods (through the rubber boos on each side) move up and down instead of just side to side.
