Need a New Clockspring / Angle Sensor, But Part is Unavailable
Hi Guys,
The past few months my horn/steering controls hasn't been working, and throwing an ESP error on the display. The indy mechanic and a few other folks have told me it's the contact spiral / steering angle sensor (SAS) / clockspring.
So I took my steering wheel off and got the part number: A2095400545 There's just one problem. The part isn't made anymore, and isn't available on eBay on anywhere else! It's impossible to find.
And here is an even bigger problem. Without the horn working, I will eventually fail inspection, and the State will prohibit me from re-registering the vehicle.
What can I do?

I found some C230 angle sensors that look identical, but have totally different part numbers. Will a C230 angle sensor work in a CLK/W209? Can I buy the C230 angle sensors instead? They look very very similar.
Any advice would be immensely appreciated!
Update 05 JULY 2017:
I was finally able to find this clockspring + steering angle sensor from a Canadian salvage yard. However, I still have the ESP light, and have to readjust the angle sensor, because the horn doesn't work when I'm steered to the left.
For anyone else out there that needs a clockspring or steering angle sensor for a CLK - MB has stopped manufacturing the old ones like the one I mentioned in this post. However, an indy told me that there's a newer clockspring that they still make, that has a notch in the plug that connects to the steering column module. Now, these newer clocksprings will not fit in an older CLK, but they will work with a plug adapter. Unfortunately, I don't have part numbers, but I will try to get them for you. Also, A203/W203 clocksprings should work in a w209, but I didn't try any myself, so I cannot guarantee it.

BTW it's interesting, on my clock spring exact part # is 209-540-05-45-7F04, the last 4 symbols usually means color code, in my case 7F04 it's grayish color..... strange :-D

For example, see the part in this video:
Do you know if your angle sensor looks like that? With the needles on the end?
I'm totally lost with this

I will call the dealership, but the first time they told me they couldn't help me since the part is unavailable.

Interesting......
According to your vin you need part # 2034640118 .... It was different clock springs for coupe and convertibles..... strange again

But still, just in case, before ordering this part double check with your supplier.

in any case, I'm starting to think and w209 or w203 might work.Take a look at my part on the left, and the part number you mentioned on the right. The difference is that the part you gave me includes the whole clockspring AND angle sensor assembly. And mine (on the left) is just an angle sensor. It was throwing me off. I can't believe I could overlook that :P
