Air filter housing.

When I removed the air filter housing off my 2006 SLK 280 I noticed that one of the four spring clips was missing, I called at my local MB dealer to order one and was told this is not a serviceable item and I would require a complete new housing.
Would this be true or am I being misled, again.

Get the part number and then do a Google search for it. You will probably get a few hits on used ones for sale.

I bent one of mine, and was told the same thing by at guy at the dealer I trust. So I bent it back.

Can someone with a parts list confirm that the part is not a serviceable item ?

Since the 280 is not sold here, I did not see a parts list for it on the site where a dealer in Illinois sells parts. But curiously, when I randomly looked at a 2005 320, they do sell that part. See this diagram. Not sure if it's the same as my clip or not.

If you Google the part # it does seem to be the part that I require, unfortunately it does not appear available in Europe, I will see what my dealer says on Monday.
Thank you for the info.

2005 CLK500
Do you have a photo of one of the remaining ones?

How critical is this clip?

On my CLK500 one of my clips fell off. It was a back one that keeps the air cleaner cover tight to the MAF, I swapped the front one to the back. Later I found it, but it was fine without it.

The CLK280 is an M272 engine, so this would be the same as out CLK350 in the USA> I checked EPC and do not see these clips as a separate part.

Rudeney,
Have a look at the post above from Yidney, the clip shown is the same as mine together with a part #, it appears to be available in the US but not in Europe.
I will know more on Monday.

It does show as a separate part for that 320 air box, but it does not show as separate for mine. So probably the clip is not exactly the same. Too hard to tell what it really looks like from the little drawings. All I was saying is that for at least some air boxes, it is separate. Not saying it will work on your car.

I checked the cover on my SL (M273 engine - the V8 version of your M272 v6) and the mounting points do appear to be the same as for an M112 engine (CLK320). I suppose it's worth a try. Part number is A1120940041. I can't help with EU availability, but in the USA, it's under $5:

I went to the local MB dealership and found that part # A112 094 00 41 was good part # here in the UK.
I ordered one and after a few days it arrived, it is identical to the other three and fitted perfectly.
Another problem solved, thank you Yidney and Rodney.
