Lowering

Hi,

What's the best suggestion in lowing the car while still maintaining the comfort ride?

....can one just change the "pads"? I believe there are various numbered pads available... can someone confirm this?

Thanks,
Ho

You wont do much by changing the pads because the 209 only has pads on the rear. The rear pads range from 8mm to 23mm (at a 5mm interval). The front gap is what bothering most people. Get a set of Brabus springs, they are supposed to be the most comfortable springs out there. If you want better performance, get a set of Renntech.

This is going to be a noob question but what are coilovers? What do they do? Do they affect the ride quality?

In a short way to explain it, they are a combination of both springs and shocks that help you lower your car to your personal preference anywhere from 1inch to 2 inches depending how you like your car to look. They make your car handle alot better. The price ranges anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500. Its an entire new suspension package for the car.

I just did the springs at first, but the drop wasn't enough so I got a set of bilstein coilovers. I'm actually planning on doing a little fine tuning before the end of summer and droping it a tiny bit more in back. I'd be hesitant to recommend only doing springs unless you've seen another car and know that it'll look the way you want.
