V6 vs V8 gas mileage ?
I’m Looking at one of these used for a DDer as I can maintain them myself and my truck gets terrible gas mileage no matter what I do. I’m talking 8-10mpg ( old Ford Super duty).
Its time for a 2nd vehicle anyway but I’ve read a few threads saying real world there’s really only a 1-2mpg difference in the city and that the v8 is well worth it and can get almost the same mpg depending on how you drive.
I really can’t decide between a c class v6 sedan or a v8 coupe. 3.2 or 5.0.
if the years make any difference I’m looking at the post facelift w209 unless the 2000-2003 is a different series entirely.
Before anyone asks , why not Acura or Lexus ? Are you trying to flex ?
No , MB is my favorite German make and they make the most solid one during this era for sure. Audi and BMW both have terrible reliability and constant issues. Where I live Acura and Lexus IS extremely overpriced. 10k for a 200k beat up 15 yr old car hahaha.
I know there was 4 cylinder model but my car buddy told me it’s gutless and it’s not worth it to get a Benz unless it’s atleast a v6 or v8. He drives a 95 bullnose looking s320. It’s 200k+ but he won’t get rid of it , it rides too nice and has been great to him the almost 10 years he’s owned it.
Anyway is the v8 almost the same as the v6 or is there a night and day difference in mpg ?

This place is a joke.
2-3 mpg difference. The V8 is not only more powerful, but much smoother. I'd go for the V8. If you can find a CLK 550, they are quite fast, and have the newer style engine over the 500. Either V6 or V8, get familiar with balance shaft failure in certain years and avoid them. Use the search for this info.

PFL205.064 with M276.823 (Oil pump solenoid defeated)
Get the V8 although you get a little less miles per gallon, the smiles per gallon make up for it.

I'd probably get a 2008+ V8 if you can find one. I would skip 2007 due to the above reference balance shaft issue (though early 2008 models also had the issue, so be sure to check before you buy).
If you're near Orange County, CA, I might be willing to sell my V8 with 82K miles.
