Tinting Windows

Hey guys, I was wondering how would you go about tinting the windows for the clk320. I live in california and I think they have pretty strict laws about tinting, or maybe I'm wrong.

Anyone know any experienced tint places/stores that have experience with mercedes or does it not matter? I've heard that you have to be careful with tinting the clk windows since they have that little slide between the front and back window.

you just cant tint the front window. the tinting place should adjust for the window sliding.

You can do a 70% tint for the front windows in CA, and pretty much black out on the rears. The "70%" means that there must be at least 70% light transmission. Factory windows already have a certain level of tint (I'm not sure what it is on the CLK), but a 70 won't be too much of a change from stock, if it's a noticeable change at all.
TheCarConnection.com recently published a tinting guide, with a link to the limits in each jurisdiction.

I think any tint you put on the front will make it below 70 because of the factory tint. Just don't tint the front too dark. I put 35 front and back so it is even and while I wish it were a bit darker, I don't have any tint tickets nor do I think they would give me one.

a car
My friend put 50% tint on his 4Runner. He hasn't had any complaints as of yet when night time hits. If you want something dark, definetly don't get 20%. I had 20% on the Volvo, and it's still a bit clear to see through.

Ask the place wherever you get it tinted if they have 11%, 15%, or 16%? May sound crazy, but some places offer them. Good luck.

I got 35% tint all around for my cars. I haven't gotten a single ticket from my tint for over 10 years. *knock on the wood* There was one time that I got pulled over in Hollywood. The cop asked me about the tint, and I just told him that it was tinted by the dealer when I bought the car and and so he didn't write me a ticket for tinted front windows and only gave me a ticket for no front license plate.

im thinking of either 50 or 70 percent, since i really just want to get my windows tinted for more practical use, (heat/uv reduction, etc) not looks. which one would you guys recommend? and what should my rear windows be tinted to if i get 50 or 70 on my front windows?

thanks for the advice

id say the 35% tint all around. thats what i got. it helps a lot with the heat and uv rays. keeps the car cooler. anything lighter than that, you can barely tell the difference.

Go with Solar Gard films. They cost more, but they perform better. You can go to their website, www.solargard.com for more detail.
