Confuse! My salesperson says the CLK500 won't be in the show room until Oct. He said: one month after the E Class

Does the spoiler come as standard? The entire dealership does not know there is a spoiler exist. Hmmm.....

I Believe some forum members said they will get their car in August. How is that possible?

My salesman indicates that my CLK 500 will be built in mid June and arrive in the USA in mid July. He did indicate that the car may be held in the USA awaiting a uniform launch date in the USA.

With regard to the AMG package, who knows? The photos of the Euro CLK 500's do not show it as standard equipment. A German translation of the Euro option list shows the AMG Styling as an option on the CLK 500. But no such option shows on the USA ordering system. So it's anyone guess: 1) Unavailable currently in USA, or 2) standard on USA CLK 500.

i'm afraid i cant help you in regards to specs and packages for the states. As far as the euro and middle eastern markets are concerned, CLK500 avantgarde or elegance can be ordered with the AMG styling package including 18' alloys and mufflers as an extra option. But the standard avantgarde comes with 17 inch wheels as standard.

october sounds ridiculous. The 209 CLK240, CLK320, and CLK500 were delivered here first week of april. The first CLK55 AMG will arrive in july.

if the marketing is similar to the W208 version, only the US cars got the AMG body kit as part of the V8 (CLK500 & CLK55) model.

This had been an extra cost option in the non-US markets, but to simplify the models for the US, we get an amalgamation of various options bundled into our models...

I was in Stuttgart (and Sindelfingen/Bad Canstatt/Unterturkheim) last September and saw quite of few CLK430's driven around and none of them had the AMG body kit. It made spotting the 200/230/320 models apart from the V8 cars more difficult. Had to look at the rear badging to see what models they were.

There even was a CLK200 Cabrio (cloth interior) in the MB museum - that had to be one slow car with all that weight and a tiny four cylinder to haul it around.

Thank You for all the Replies!

No one seems for sure that AMG body kit are standard on the CLK500, am I'm right?

What about the spoiler/fin, another option to the AMG body kit?

I really wish I knew. My salesperson repeatedly thas told me mid to late july and this is the first one at their dealership. But then again, he seems sure that the sports package is included. There are no options as of yet for exhaust or wing.

You know what, as I was typing a relpy to You. My salesperson called me to say hello. I asked him about the spoiler and his guess is just as good as our. I also mention some of our forum members will getting their cars in July and August. He asure me if that would be the case, I will get mine too.

I don't know, I really wish I can get it in July or August.

Cause getting it in Oct. would be too late, summer is over, rain a lot and snow be coming in one or two month.

Vivianlove-
I would also like mine as soon as possible. I am afraid of selling my car now (2002 clk430) because I am worried what I might think of the W209 if it doesn't have the AMG kit. I am also worried, now, that some of the options will not be available for the first few cars and although I want it sooner than later, I am planning on keeping this vehicle for at least 2-3 years and would hate to not get it loaded.

Talking benzo...

honestly, if i were you, and you had the ability to drop 15k on a body kit, i would just wait for the CLK 55 which should come out later this year or early next.....if you are getting a fully loaded CLK 500, i believe the price difference between the 500 and 55 fully loaded will be about 10k....with the 55 you know you will get an AMG body, 18inch AMG wheels, multicontours and that AMG engine...not to mention more exclusivity and some other perks in the car

if you decide to wait the 2-3 mths just for multicontours you may as well wait for the CLK 55 coupe

to answer your question directly though...I like to go by this rule of thumb...get what you want period....if you want multicontours then wait, because you will never be fully happy getting a car without them once they show up, because you dont have the car you really wanted in the first place.

Those are great points, Nabzy...

I guess I feel compelled to buy the Clk500 b/c #1) I am worried about waiting for the CLK55- I thought we were at least 1 yr away and if thats the case wouldn't my depreciation be that much greater? #2) If I add the full kit with the rims (i.e. if sports package isn't standard) I think it may cost me more than I want to spend. I know I will only want the car if it looks more aggressive- not that the non-sports package isn't nice. I guess I could always wait a while and get a kit later... Thanks for your thoughts.

Nabzy...

That was easy. I have to say that this site helps. I walked out of the office for a minute and a light bulb went on in my head. I called the dealership and placed a deposit on the CLK55- he said they hadn't had any deposits yet but had to confirm it before putting it in wirting. He is sending me a fax with the confirmation this pm.

I figure, regardless, I'll drive the CLK500 until the other comes in- I can't get hurt that hard on Trade in- esp. with only 2-3,000 miles on the car. And after reading your email I thought, if I am going to keep a car for a while might as well make it a 55! Thanks for your help.

Benzo:

If you're adding almost every options in the CLK500. It make sense for you to get the CLK55. BUT!

CLK500 - $51000 plus $7030 option = $58030
K3 - $1370
K4 - $1580
Command - $2080
Keyless Go - $1000
Misc - $1000
Total Option: $7030
$58030/306HP = $189.64/HP

CLK55 - $70000 plus $4080 =$74080
Command - $2080
Keyless Go - $1000
Misc - $1000
Total Option: $4080
$74080/367HP = $200.49

$16050 for 61 more HP = $263.15/HP

I don't know, I would get the SL instead if I were you.

Vivianlove,

Wow- thanks for breaking that down. I think that I will be much happier having a backseat in this vehicle and that is why I "dream" about a CL ( too expensive for me- the little lady would throw me to the wolves) and buy the CLK's. Your breakdown is very helpful and I think that now I just have to sit tight and see the CLK500 in person. The worse case scenario, I don't like the new body and I finally make some modifications to my 2002CLK430. Best case scenario, I love the car (and everyone else does to) that way when the 55 arrives I will not lose much selling it (500) on my own. (maybe there will be premium's)

I really do appreciate all of the input. You both (Nabzy and Vivianlove) made me feel much more comfortable with my decision.

Talking this was my possible price breakdown

Anyone for price guessing ?
this is my take, I'm usually pretty good at this, but seeing as its a new model I'm just throwing out my price guesstimate, opinions welcome

CLK 55 base with destination 71.5k
CLK 500 base with destination 52.5k
CLK 320 base with destination 44k

metallic paint 655
nav cd package 150
distronic 2900
parktronic 1150
ski sack 200
comand 2100
multicontour seats 750
heated front seats 650
keyless go 1000
K3 - sunroof, rear shade 1100
K4 - bi-xenons, washers 1100
K2b - phone/cd 2100
K2c - phone/voice cd 2500
951(320 only) - appearance package 1750 (a real guess)
special order leather (500 only) - 1150

that means a fully loaded CLK 320 will go for $60,005
that means a fully loaded CLK 500 will go for $66,755 and with special order leather $67,905

Finally a CLK 55 will go for $82,600 - This price was reached taking into account that metallic paint, multicontour seats, heated front seats and the K3 package should come standard.

Without distronic which is a 3k killer...a fully loaded CLK 320 should go for around 57k, a fully loaded CLK 500 around 64-65k and a CLK 55 around 79.5k

I believe your guess is pretty accurate.

Benzo:
Know your budget and then decided what your want.

(personal speaking) 16k more I can get this and another 16k I can get that, you know what mean?

Anyway, what color is your CLK500?

Most of my cars is black, go figure

Vivianlove- I ordered black with black- origionally I ordered the stone interior but because there are so many plastic button on the interior I felt they would blend better if the interior was black/charcoal. I had a black CLK430 and I sold it- I regret doing that now as I am much bigger fan of the black. I am getting excited.

Did you sold yours for a good price?

You should hold on to it for your CLK500 tradein, that surely going to save you some money on tax.

I will use mine for tradein, I probably will get $38000 for mine.
That is like $3325 I saved on tax since MB not going to give any discount on the CLK500.

Benzo: I SEE!

I'm curious, lets say I get a better offer from regular folks like you and I. How do I go about selling it? Place a newspaper ad or some else? How does it work? Take cash, money order,??? I don't know because I always trade in older car for a new one.

Anybody? Please Advice!
