Hi all, hope you are well
I have a CLK270 CDI Avantgarde (2005). My VIN is WDB2093162F164680.
Couple queries:
1) Getting front shocks replaced and wondering if my suspension is standard or sports
2) Looking to use Monroe - has anyone any concerns or alternative suggestions.
3) Does my car have DPF ?

Ah ha Nice. They are lovely cars to drive. :-)
You got me trying to figure out the codes
Mine needs some TLC now (circa 130k and im the 2nd owner. I got it at 60k miles)
Doing a full clutch service and replacing front shocks and changing the Aux Water Pump to fix the heating issue. Plus a few other minor things

Couple queries:
Easiest way to know: Run your VIN thru the local MB dealership, or https://classicparts.mbusa.com/ or mbparts.mbusa.com. The VIN search will get the correct item.
Also, your existing shocks will have the MB PN stamped on them, and sometimes a label as well.
Some of the online 3rd party sites use your VIN number to do the same thing.
Do your sway bushings (if present) while at it. Cheap and easy and a big help.
Also, unless you are restrained by build to Comfort/Highway or to Sport - I opt for Comfort/Highway. Hold the road just fine and are an easier ride. Plus easier on the body as it ages.
About Monroe and other brands. It is Not worth it to me to save a few dollars to buy other brands for an item which will last a long time.
Just my two cents.
Attached is a 2004 CLK USA brochure - it doesn't list the Avantgarde nor the Elegance packages and components. Avantgarde is more rare for sure.

From Wiki:
In 2005, a Sports edition, based on the Avantgarde specification, was introduced and featured six-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, cross-drilled brake rotors, and bi-xenon headlights.[12][13] An AMG Sports package was also available, featuring a restyled front bumper, a spoiler lip on the boot, and 18-inch wheels. The Elegance and Avantgarde models were also updated, now featuring nine-spoke 16-inch wheels, and five spoke 17-inch wheels respectively.[14]

Your CLK has the Avantgarde package (blue tint glass is a signature). My '04 CLK320 has Avantgarde and sports suspension, lowered as part of it.1) Getting front shocks replaced and wondering if my suspension is standard or sports

2) Looking to use Monroe - has anyone any concerns or alternative suggestions.
I have 4 MB's (2 x ML320, 1 x CLK320, 1 x C230. I use only Sachs or Bilstein. Those are OEM or OEM equivalent. And are not expensive. Use Bilstein B4s for OEM street/comfort, B6's for OEM sports - AS I UNDERSTSTAND it. Go to the manufacturer's site for guidance.2) Looking to use Monroe - has anyone any concerns or alternative suggestions.

Equipment[edit]
Standard equipment includes antilock brakes, electronic stability control, power seats, and dual-zone climate control.[8][9] Models were also offered in Elegance and Avantgarde specification.[10] Elegance models feature green-tinted glass, a grey coloured grille, 7-spoke polished 16-inch alloy wheels, and wood interior trim, while Avantgarde models featured blue-tinted glass, a black coloured grille, 5-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, aluminium interior trim, as well as stiffer springs, thicker anti-roll bars, and a 15 mm (0.6 in) lower ride height.[11]In 2005, a Sports edition, based on the Avantgarde specification, was introduced and featured six-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, cross-drilled brake rotors, and bi-xenon headlights.[12][13] An AMG Sports package was also available, featuring a restyled front bumper, a spoiler lip on the boot, and 18-inch wheels. I am in the UK and have purchased most of my parts from www.buycarparts.co.uk.
While delivery take approximately a week, the range and prices make it worth it (sometimes half of GSF and EuroCarParts)
I have just received delivery for all my front shock items. Price wise Monroe and Bilsten was pretty much the same, so I could have gone for Bilstein. I really appreciate the guidance though as this will come in handy in the future (Sachs or Bilstein).
So I have ordered the following parts
1) SHOCKS: https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/monroe/11279192
2) BUFFER: https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/vaico/873300
3) TOP STRUT MOUNT: https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/ridex/8058168
4) DUST COVER KIT: https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/kyb/828156
5) COIL SPRING: https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/ridex/8345139
You mentioned to also change the Sway Bushings: Is it this item ?

I will most likely also need to change the Track Rods (Front Axle) both sides as well. Please let me know if I should change anything else while I am at it.
