Bought a CLK55!
I decided to buy a 2001 CLK55 AMG this weekend and want to thank all of you who helped educate me along the way. Especially to Bulocan who was kind enough to look the car over for me...a true gentleman!
I also have purchased a 5yr/50,000 mile Daimler/Chrysler extended warranty. It adds another 5 yrs/50,000 miles and covers everything except bodyparts, and maintenance items for $2990.
I think I am only going to have Steve add COMAND and the hands free phone stuff. I believe I read here he is coming to Chicago late March. I emailed him and just waiting for the word. I will also add the Evosport underdrive pulleys and maybe some wider rear rims...but haven't even started that process yet.
Looking forward to my first drive in a CLK55!
Thank you all!

Yes Ron, it was a pleasure!
My grandfather ended passing away shortly after you and I spoke, so I ended up leaving town right away and have not been to the dealership. I am currently out of state but I have had a chance to call the delaership and it is NOT a DC warranty. Only an aftermarket warranty that simply "goes beyond DC's warranty."
So it is the same as any other after market warranty. They will recognize it, but you may have to pay the dealer first and be reimbersed by the warranty company. If you want the "easiest" method of dealing with the dealership for warranty work, you would need to buy a warranty from the dealership you will be using. The local dealers warranty for an 01 CLK55 is 36 month/36,000 miles for $3,500, so quite a bit more expensive than 5yr/50,000 for $2,990!
Hope this helps and take care!

karl,
The CLK55 is in my garage right now with 2 coats of Zaino's and waiting for 2 more this weekend. I have had my mechanic go completely through the car performing all services, including tranny. I have an appointment today to have Michelin PS2's put on. Monday my Euro AMG springs should be here along with new spring pads. If I can get to it this weekend, after more Zaino's, I am going to take before pictures of the stock setup, then next week will add the after Euro spring pics. Next week the Evo UD pulleys will also be installed. The title arrived without a problem and the car is simply awe inspiring. The problem is keeping my foot out of it!
Thanks again for your offer to look the car over for me Karl. That was very generous.
Take care!

Just got back from picking up my car from Carx...never again! These places are horrible, but I couldn't wait to get new skins put on. They inflated my tires to 52-54lbs! I had to insist, several times to have the lugs hand torqued and watch over them, and it took them 2 hours!.
The tires are unbelieveable...Michelin PS2's are quiet, responsive with great turn-in and feel great through the steering wheel. No real experience however, this is my initial impression after only about 10 miles. We'll see how they wear and how much I'll be singing their praises after 1,000's of miles.
Next is the spring/pad/pulley work!
