No CLK55 coupe in 2006??
I was reading an CLK MY 2006 Specification sheet on the other MB forum, and it said that there wasn't going to be a CLK55 coupe in 06. Anyone else heard anything about this?
I tried searching, and I did't see anything, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed to death already.

This could be the best news I have heard all year...please tell me it's true! The 03's & 04's should start holding their value better and the 2005 model should be really special.

I think Mercedes-Benz finally smartened up and decided to stop flooding the market with CLK55 coupes. Just look at the average depreciation of a 2003 CLK55 coupe versus a 2003 E55 sedan!?!

that's the first i heard and would be shocked if they did that. i just talked to my sales rep at MB and he said he knew nothing about it. i assume it would make the clk55 hold its value more. i guess we have to wait and see.

Yes, same from AMG official ...
At the AMG Challenge at California Speedway last month the head of AMG production said this too. I was only 99% sure I heard correctly, and a lot else was getting said, so I forgot about it until now.
My main goal at the Challenge was to figure out if I wanted a SLK55 or an E55. I got #1 slot for an '06 SLK at a large dealership over a year ago, figuring to replace my '01 CLK55
Other things at the Challenge from sources that would know:
No SLK63 in '06 (Damn!), and no opinion ventured even for '07.
AMG SLKs, Es, Sls, and maybe others I did not catch, will have a 'High Performance' option. This apparently has no engine mods, just 186mph rated tires, tighter suspension, and even better brakes. The speed limiters on these cars will be turned off or set back to 300kph.

No Robert Allan head of product manageemnt said that the CLK55 is so dead in the water that production will be stopped for 06. The CLK55 Cab will carry forward unchanged so that puts the CLK63 idea to rest. He said the quad cam motors are still over a year away from production.
The cab is selling better than the coupe. In reality who wants a 75k coupe version of the 55k C55? It is just to similar. Great car and I would like to own on but for the price everyone just goes for the E55 even though I think a CLK is mor fun to drive.

its out of production for 06 because of NO demand. That is from the mouth of the man in-charge of determining market demand for the AMG product line in the USA. I might think he knows a thing or two as to why the CLK55 is not being made this year. I spoke to him for over an hour and during that time 2 dealership sales managers came over to discuss their allocation figures and both said that the CLK55's are dead in the water and that they were glad to see them taken from the line for 06 -- those cars were not money makers.
So when there is a 06 Cab and no couple the only reason the coupe is not being made is because there is a new car coming for the 07 model year? Come on Harris that's anti-logic. You are correct in that summer 06 is when the 07 cars gome out in the states but is this anything new or just what the last 20 years as taught us?
C55 is done after 06 also due to a lack of sales and high costs to certify it for 07 crash standards. Many dealerships are telling AMG to cut the C55 from the line-up all together because a 60k C just is not what people want to buy. I say just make it faster and drive better and people will buy it. M3's sell all day long so there is no reason why the C55 should not.

From my point of view after reading all these threads I'm happy to trade in my 2004 CLK55 and 2005 CLK55, for a 2005 CL55, considering the deal, color, and options I'm getting. I mean if the CL in 2006/2007/2008 whatever year its a 63, how much difference is that going to make when the 55 has 493 HP to begin with. I don't live near the auto bahn. Wish I did!! Then well, I might consider waiting?
