To Kleemann or not to Kleemann, that is the ?!
Okay guys, I have my CLK55 01 with Euro spec springs and 18 inch monoblock IIs, it is doing very well as is BUT, as you know there is no such things as too much power. The car is finishing its warranty this coming week and I am flirtying with the idea of throwing on the Supercharger by Kleemann that goes for around 13K and as well the LSD that is another 3K. This would boost the cars HP to around 510HP. I don't want to modify much more than that. My questions is a guess one many have already have pondered, should I do it? To answer this I would like to hear from those of you that have done this type of modification to the car and read you impressions, much appreciated!

CLK55 AMG 2006 Cabrio, BMW M3 2008 DTC Cab new (M3 e46 SMG 2003 Cabrio Sold), BMW X5 tt Diesel 2008
Do it,
But make sure you put the LSD in it, also you should upgrade the universal joints & driveshafts, the LSD is 60% locker. The AMG LSD comes with the extra pieces in the price.

Hi,
New here, just bought my '03 CLK55...
I've been doing a ton of research on this, and the Kleemann seems to offer the best performance package...but at a price, of course.
Kleemann: 500 hp!
Carlsson offers this package:
CM55K 480 hp for CLK55
They have not quoted me a price on it yet.
Brabus also has not quoted me a price on their 6.1 S w/ 445 HP package.
If I had the coal, I would definately go Kleemann. No question. If money is an object, then you should see what the other guys are charging, where they are, warranty, etc.
Good luck!

I have put 48K miles on this car and it still looks and drives like new. The only thing I did was replace the stock 17 Monoblock IIs with the same but in 18 inch, it's what the car should have had for the AMG models. I placed on them PS2s. I also decided that the car was too high up and that I wanted to lower it but not dramatically, so went with the European spec springs which sit about 1 inch lower, same ride. I did play with xenon fog lights but I ended up replacing them with the original stock lights as I did not want to take away from the cars orginal look too much...plus the xenons just don't work as well as the stock lights in fog: what is the point if function is sacrifised for look I thought.
Now that my car is coming out of warranty its time to make it or break it. The car has depreciated about 50% from the original sticker price and when I look around for what I can get for that money, I always turn back and look at my car and smile. To make a long story short, I am now thinking of giving it a second wind and injecting it with steriods or A.K.A. Kleemann. I have done my research and it seems that this would be the best supercharger out there for the money. What's the point of paying less for another system and regreting it later? I know there are issue out there that I must contend with...too much power at the wheels means wasted energy off the line (the SL65 has the same issue by,the way the SL600 beasts it off the line) and of course a thirstier engine. But I can live with those two issues. My philosophy is there is no such things as too much horsepower. With practice, I would learn to drive it and tame the beast. My car was never a 0-60 car anyway, the CLK55 has always blossom on the highway after 70mph. I think this is where Kleemann would come in and shine. My concern is none of the above but just reliability. Who out there owns one of these and has experienced problems with it? Who has experience with them? Give me details please. I am keeping this car, no trade in, no selling...its going to die in my arms...but hopefully much much more in the distant future.
Thanks,
Learso

I found a place near Boston that would do the tuning at a reasonable price...here is what they are offering:
"I spoke with Kleemann USA today and got pricing and installation times for the Kompressor Kit and LSD.
Kompressor for CLK55 = $11,000.00 + tax
Installation 24 hours @ $75.00/hr = $1,800.00
Kleeman LSD = $2,300.00 + tax
Installation 4 hours @ $75.00/hr = $300.00
In speaking with Kleemann he stated that both the installations are very straight forward just labor intensive. The instructions are extremely detailed and the fit and finish of the parts are excellent.
Let me know when you would like to come out to KTR.
Thanks,
Scott Bertz

Its hard to find people here that have modded their W209 CLK55. I was thinking about a pulley system. I'm sure Kleeman makes one for the W209. I wonder how much it is and what it does for you HP wise?

KLEEMANN all the way! Cory and Brandon are gurus in what they do
I have had my E55 modded with all the Kleemann goodies for over 6 months with no issues. The car is just as reliable as when it was stock.
Give Cory a call!

Thanks 04E55AMG, I have spoke to Cory and all looks good. I am waiting to talk to a few more people, the dealer that is servicing my car at Herb Chambers Mercedes is doing a full bumper to bumper overview of the car to check it out. Also, I am looking to meet the guys who are going to put in the Supercharger to see if they look the part they sound on the phone.
If anyone is in the Boston area and wants to join me for a tour of the facility please let me know and we can go check it out together. They are in talks right now with cory to become a new Kleemann dealer. I want to see their shop. Their website is this:

As I stated, I am considering the exact same upgrade on my 01 CLK55...
The Kleemann sc with the LSD. I am thinking of doing this aftert my warranty expires in 2/06.
Everyone seems to love this idea...are there ANY dissenters out there? Is there ANY reason (not gas$) which anyone could bring up to NOT do this?
I'd just love to hear any cons at all....there doesn't seem to be any.

1. Depreciation - Mods for Mercedes-Benz cars have an 'above average' cost, and generally detract from the resale of the vehicle unless returned to stock configuration prior to sale.
2. Regular Maintenance - Some dealers will not want to service your car (even out of warranty) due to high performance mods. Sometimes, this may create undue inconvenience and/or expense.
3. Wear and Tear - will be accelerated vs. stock configuration.
4. License suspension - A real possibility. Who would not want to show off all that power as often as possible? The likelihood of a moving violation would be increased....dramatically in my case. :p
5. Unforseen headaches - Though seldom reported/seen on these forums, a problem could arise that you or your installer just can't figure out or correct to your satisfaction. Aggravation can be a major PITA sometimes.
Outside of those, the Kleemann compressor seems to have a reliable setup for the NA V8 cars. Please keep us posted on any decision, progress, subsequent installation, and results of the tuning process.
Good luck

Thanks Chappy, I appreciate this response....
None of this scares me, but I knew there had to be some issues, not to mention the $.
I didn't realize that it would reduce the resale though, although not something thats enters into my equation....
What happens if I take the modded car to the local MB dealer for maintenance???
I assume that they would be ok with it so long as it has nothing to do with the mod....
