Air Fliter For CLK55
#2
K&N has more high flow. It uses cotton and wire gauze. ITG is second. It uses foam. K&N has less filtration than ITG that's why some 55 get 10 hp from it. Use K&N but clean it every 3000 miles.

Do a search for "dyno" on the 208 forum. There is a post about K&Ns on a 55. If you figure a 20 percent hp loss at the rear wheels with an automatic....with 4.5 hp measured, you're looking at maybe a 6 hp gain.
I tried to put them on but didn't have the right tools. I got the front cover snapped off but the plenum cover had some tight clearances over the block and my right angle driver didn't fit. I had them installed at the A service for a 1/2 hour charge, since the dealer said the filters weren't changed then.

Any Special Tools Needed ?
How much time is needed -
Forgive my clueless attitude, but the last time I changed an Air Filter was on my 930 turbo which took one weekend
Can you say "THE HORROR"

Well, you need the torx screw driver of the correct size. Most hardware stores will carry the set and it's inexpensive. Don't improvise with an allen or regular blade screw driver; it will ruin the screw heads.
It took me a good half hour to do the job. I did spend another 2 hours cutting and trimming thermotec heat blanket for under the box but thats another story.
