no way was that a CLK 320 like the title says (plus there's no 320 AMG). an M3 will crush a 320, especially a cabrio. That guy in the M3 was a terrible driver.

I just test drove an 06 M3 before purchasing my CLK 55. The thing is a complete dog. It has 36 more horse than the 350Z I sold and performed like it had 50 less!! Plus the shifter is such a long throw you feel like your shifting a pickup truck.
I haven't driven the 320 but I doubt I'd be nearly as disapointed as I was with the BMW.

2000 CLK-430 - Sold
If a 320 can beat an M3, which by the way is a beautiful engine, Iam going out there with my 430 and challenging a M5. I love BMW's, Ive always owned one until now ( CLK 430 ). I had an M3, M6, 330CI and a Dinan 540i. The only way that a 320 can beat a M3, is if its my 3 year old son driving the car.

That's a CLK55 Cab....
....you can plainly hear it's a V8, not a V6. This car was falsely claimed to be a supercharged AMG at one time, but there's no supercharger whine in the video, which would be audible (not to mention that a supercharged 55 would be about ten lengths out rather than 1.5 or so...).

When I first saw this video about a year ago it the CLK was listed as a CLK 55 AMG that was sent to brabus and made into a brabus 5.8.
Even with a bad driver in the M3 having over 120 hp difference doesn't take skill to win. For example if I started out in 2nd gear and I had a CLK 320 next to me I would be able to mash the gas in 2nd gear and still put distance on the 320. Even a 36 hp over a 350Z is a big amount I have never lost to one and I pull like mad so just imagine what 120 hp difference would look like, Kind of like an E55 racing an M3.

Don't get me wrong I love the M3 and actually went to the BMW dealership specifically to purchase the 06. After driving it I just couldn't make myself give up that much performance. The 350Z at nearly half the price was superior in handling, quickness and much, much better throttle response. Not to mention the short throw compared to the "granny" shifter in the BMW.
I drove the M5 as well and liked it but I've been driving sportscars for a long time and just couldn't buy that big sedan. I absolutely love the 6 series but had a hard time justifying spending the money for a car I'll put 25,000 miles a year on.
So I settled for a used certified CLK55 AMG with 17,000 miles on it I'm not really beating myself up over the decission.

My buddy has a 350Z and I can't sand driving that numb slow car. It's terrible. It's alot slower. We raced quite a few times. My M3 always ran away from my friends CLK430 as well so a 320 would be a joke. I never go the chance to race a CLK55 before I sold my last one.

The balance, handling, braking, accelerating and just general overall feel are matched by very few cars. Not even my Ferrari 355 was as well rounded.

I've been a passenger in the E46 M3 and I gotta say... that thing pulls so hard to the redline. The power delivery is so sweet, very linear.
I was considering one as a replacement for my E-Class (gone), but the cheapest one I could find was a silver convertible with 73k mi (certified though)... hardly desirable anymore.
So I passed the idea and got a certified W208 CLK55 with 26k miles, which is the same price as some 330ci.. I'll check out the new M3 in the future instead
Actually, I'd love to have a friendly race with my friend's E46 M3 sometimes and then swap cars. We'll see.. not exactly feeling racy these days.
BTW... nice Ferrari 355.
*Speaking of 350Z - I think it's hard to beat for a $30k+ car (brand new)... and in my opinion it looks killer for the money too!

i owned a 350z. it's a dog compared to the e46 m3's. it's probably more similar to a e36 m3's performance numbers....stock on stock.

You must have driven a lemon Bixby because both of my M3s which were heavy onvertibles used to outrun Zs very easily on a regular basis. Actually I raced my Ferrari 355 several times against my M3 and they were dead even. Pissed me off as the M3 was my wife's car. They would both hand right on the bumper of C5 Vette Convertibles(automatic). M3s are pretty quick and very good driving sports cars. They do everything right. I liked driving them better than the Gallardo(uninspiring, tame, quiet), Porsche TT Cabrio(numb, quiet, no feel brakes). It's really hard to find a car that feels so good all the way around. My new Z06 is that times ten though. Simply amazing. Now I just need an SL65 for top down nights cruising. How much does a kidney go for these days?
Also, could you recommend a good Ferrari forum? Friend of mine just got an F430, and he's wanting to converse with fellow owners.
Oh, and you mentioned that you are leasing the F355....I take it you leased it used, then? What's a good place to look for one...this sounds interesting.

I ama long time member of Ferrarichat.com and it's a great site. Good members that are very knowledgeable. Many members on this site belong to Ferrarichat. The F430 or the CS will be my next one. I love the CS. It is one of the purest driving experiences out there. You feel alive in that car. Hardwired into it. There's nothing else like it. I did leasemine used thru premier. It's an open ended lease you can get out of at any time and the 355 has stopped depreciating much so you can get pretty good rates. My vette cost the same as my 355 spider which was 50k more expensive. Lease a 95/96 and you could get a really good rate. It is a sweet car to drive no doubt. Classic Ferrari. Good luck.

A bit better breaking but thats about it. No way is it faster. Perhaps you're just a better driver. It's well rated in it's class perhaps but it's a 60k car versus the 34k 350Z. I can see why some dont like the 350 as it does ride extremely rough and isn't for everyone. My wife hated being a passenger (as did I) but it was an absolute blast to drive.
Have you ever driven an M3? The inside of the 350Z is a joke of plastic and bad layout. It doesn't take a good driver in an M3 to beat a 350Z its not even funny how much faster an M3 is compared to a 350Z in a strait line. I have SMG so I don't get the best starts but I raced a few 350Z they seem to always think they can win. To this day in the M3 I have never lost to a 350Z or G35 coupe and its not even close from 0-60 or on the freeway from 50-80. Please don't fill anymore 350Z drivers heads with false information about how they are almost as fast as an M3 they are annoying as it is. Rumor around is a E350 is a good race for the 350Z and an E500 will smoke one. Neon SRT (NOS)>M3>E500>E350=350Z

996 C4, previously owned 996 c2, c32 amg, 350z, R33 GTR, R34 GTR
I had a 350z for 6 months, excellent car for the money but felt slow for 280hp
guess it was the +1500kg weight. An M3 would be comfortably quicker (about the same as my old c32 give or take). My 02 996 c2 is comfortably quicker than an m3 (based on kicking two samples in the last 6 months)
Anyway 350z is good for those trading up from 325i`s/RX8`s/Golf GTi`s and although not very quick it did have entertaining handling and it definately looks good
