Just ordered Nitrous Kit

I finally did it. I pulled the trigger and will be getting a nitrous setup some time next week. Now I can finally all my competition, lol.
I am getting it done by a respected tuner. It is supposed to be a wet shot. I am going to start with a 50 shot and then see how high I can safely get it (they think a 75 shot should be good). I should have dyno charts and everything, so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

This should be an interesting experiment...let us know how it goes. What else will you modify? What are you looking to get as far as performance?

I have been wondering if anyone ever put a turbo on a CLK before...

Really? Can you give me more info on it, like if he did anything else to the engine and what kind of setup did he have? I want to go 100 but am scared that it might be too much.

I'll hope to see some of you there...I gotta sign up first lol

About the turbo kit, I've wanted that the most but every place I ask quotes me in between 15-20k installed. At that point, I'd just go Kleeman kompressor.

i havent seen the guy in like 2years and dunno his #, sorry

but im pretty sure it was a dry system and it engaged when he flipped a switch and floored it

sometimes when he used it too many times in a row ( at the drag strip) his computer would trip out and he had to wait for a little while before restarting the car.

he also said that he was really pushing it in terms of nozzle size (additional power)

i would start out w/ a 50 shot 1st

Thumbs up

w/ a wet set up you should be able to spray 100 hp shot no problem, you could easily start out at 75hp and work up from there. even w/ a chip tune.

I've been doing some searching on the forums and have seen that with a 50 shot you get baour 28whp and with 100 shot you get about 60whp. Isnt a 50 shot supposed to produce 50 crank hp and 100 shot produce 100hp? I have had no luck finding a shop that will put nitrous on my car (a shop that looks half decent). Only place that might do it is about 2.5 hours away and they have to look at it first!
BMWEATR- Do you experience with nitrous? Didnt you have it on your E55?
Also, I already had my ECU tuned by Speed tuning. Will I need to retune the ECU after nitrous setup?

Can't wait to see the results. I'm glad you're starting out with a small shot first, its better to start small than to blow your engine immediatley. Let us know how everything goes once its installed.

I DID MINE MYSELF(DRY SET UP) and if your ecu is tunned you will need to go wet only. you don't need to re tune but you need to go wet to compinsate for the leanes of the tune(atleast it should be running ,eaner after speedtune(speedtune ecu's have been all over the board on there tunes i would dyno first to see were the A/F's are at then move forword.

I have the SpeedTuning upgrade. Oliver of SpeedTuning told me that I would have to send the ECU out and get it tuned so that it can run with nitrous (for $200). The shop I'm going to said that it is unnecessary and that when they run it on the dyno, they will see how much fuel they have to add and not to worry about it.

My car is in the shop right now and it should be finished within a few short hours. I have to go to a Mets game and have to leave kind of early, so I might have to leave my car overnight at the shop . If thats the case, then I promise I will have the results early tomorrow, including dyno #'s.

yea you don't need to spend another $200 at speedtune, but you need to dyno pre nitrous/then dyno and spray at the same time. your nitrous installer will know what to do(hopefully) make sure and get a bottle warmer installed!!! this was the best money i spent on my system it makes a night and day diference!!!!

Here guys, check out the post https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...38#post1728438

And yeah, a bottle warmer and purge are next on my list. I'll probably get it in another month or so.

Well, I'm officially looking into getting a bottle warmer and purge. I asked the NOS shop about it, they quoted me for around $1,000. I thought that was kind of steep. Anybody got any advice? Do you think I need to actually go to a nitrous tuner for just a bottle warmer installation or can I take it to a general shop? Thanks.

None because your car is too

I think somebody with a Renntech C32 was advised against NOS because it would put too much strain on the engine.

Damn you and your Kleeman!!! I was pretty tempted to go with Kleeman but after seeing the prices, it makes more sense to go with an AMG55 Kompressor and get a pulley..or at least thats the excuse I use as to why I won't spend the $ Lol. How much did your transformation cost and how much rwhp did you gain? Make a vid of your car, I've never seen a Kleeman in action before!

Stallion,

My car is getting what I hope is the last step done in completing the Kleemann upgrades today..the Kleemann springs. They were supposed to go in last week but there were some problems in getting the Springs here. Today they arrive. It has taken lots of work to get the car this far and honestly it shouldn't have been so but the people I entrusted my car to at KTR Performance did a crappy job in getting things right. I was not expecting it. For starters, they took over a month and a half to complete all tasks, then they got the exhaust system all screwy and I had to take it to a MB tech I am good friends with now here in Boston to have completed...the exhaust notes are so much deeper and nicer now that before. In fact that car is running much better just from the correct of exhaust leaks and fittings alone. Despite their impressive shop layout and great collection of classic exotics, I would not recommend KTR for this sort of tuning again. Modern cars I feel pose a technically challenging problem for them as they are not use to the high-tech but perhaps more the old tech, or old school of racing.

In anycase, my car's total cost id unclear because I never added it up...I am scared to add it all up, and even more scared my wife will find that scrap paper I use to do it on. The main thing is that I really took every painstaking step to insure all aspects of the tuning process was done right. I feel confident it is perfect now and boy oh boy does it run hard and fast. After al lis said and done you got to really love your car to spend so much cash. After all new cars keep coming out and they keep getting better.

Now I am looking to aquire a G55 for the winter and though I had flirted with the idea of offering my CLK55K to someone I think I have worked to hard on it to just let it go now. The car and I have bonded now and I just can't see giving her up anymore. Still, if the RIGHT offer was thrown at me I would absolutely consider entertaining it. For now, I will take a look at break systems later on this year and see if they really have worth it. Everyone says that the factory breaks AMG put on this car are more than enough unless you are doing track...I feel like I do track every day from home to office and back again.
