I think the Chrome Head light rings finish the lights nicely.

Not bad

You know, I am generally not a big fan of chrome. But the way it looks on the headlights is pretty cool. Sort of ties it together with the grill...

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Chrome was popular two generations ago!!

I guess the pendulum is beginning to swing back to chrome, -- unfortunately -- as evidenced by tacky little chrome accents on the new MBs.

Sorry Timster, I prefer substance over cutesy, tacky chrome accents.

Those headlight rings - potential missiles - are just as dangerous as the "chromed cookie cutter" dashboard knobs during the infamous "chrome generation".

Hi Tim!

Congrats on your new CLK! I kinda like the headlight rings, but don't go crazy with chroming everything.....LOL

For now, I'm leaving my 208-AMG stock as I am showing it in a few concours this fall and early spring. Authenticity points count for 50% of the score, so I'm holding off on anything non-OEM. Condition and Cleanliness count for the other 25% each. In fact, my CLK just took 1st in class at an MBCA show this past weekend.

Good luck with your new ride and enjoy!

Chappy

rings

The rings look good next to the grille and give a finished look to the lamps. Since it is a Mercedes option available from the dealer, I wouldn't worry about degrading your authenticity.

i think the chrome only looks good on certain colors.... not all the colors can pull it off...

in this case...it looks pretty sweet man....

I have had the headlight rings on my silver 55 cab for months now, and love them. Also, I am running a 35% tint as well. Hey, it's not for everybody, but it's my toy and I like the way it looks. Bottom line, variety is the spice of life. You paid for it.

Im not a huge fan of any add ons, so im not that keen on the rings. But I think if they came stock id probably like them - however at this stage they look like to much of an add on, again probrably because im just not used to seeing them: But in the wise words of 55 cabdriver "it's my toy and I like the way it looks. Bottom line, variety is the spice of life. You paid for it." So id stick with them

The rings detract from the star - the MB STAR.

Now, if one could devise a HALO (ring) floating over the MB STAR, I would go for that ring.

Actually, a halo surrounding the entire 2002 CLK55 AMG would be most appropriate.

Timster, do you have any pictures of the entire car, not just the headlamp section? It will be much easier to judge that way.

Thanks, I love Magma Red. Not sure whether to stay with the painted wheels or go with chrome? Brake dust is terrible on these cars. usually brake dust doesn't seam to stick to chrome as easy.

I do hope as the car gets broken in, the dust will subside.

Or new brakes will not be far behind.
Just haven fun with my Mercedes Benz.
