Holly crap those people don't know what they're talking about... I read most of the first page and then stopped... I'd reply to some of those ignorant posts, but I don't want to make it into a 10 page flame thread. I hate when that happens.

This quote is especially ignorant:

Hmm let me see, 06 SLK55 is 355hp and yes can run a 12.3 1/4 mile at 112 mph (private run btw, Car and Driver rated it at 12.7 1/4 mile). Now a E39 M5 stock is 400hp and also can do 12.5 1/4 mile at 110mph (privare run, Car and Driver rated it at i think 13s). Now with that said, yes a SLK from a dead stop to 1/4 will beat out a stock E39 M5, but not a run from 80-140mph, at speed I believe due to the E39 hp advantage it will definitely take out a stock SLK which is why I believe it was a kleenman or modded SLK.
2mph trap speed is a BIG difference. Factor in the trap speed and the SLK55 being more aerodynamic (less wind resistance and etc due to its small and sleek design compared to the M5), and those 3 car lenghts seem very possible.

Man you totally came off like a complete *** over there, just mirorring 1nicegsxr's comments at the end when he was so fed up w/your ATTITUDE problem...

Chill out....Yes he has a point, and at least the guy actually told what sounded like the truth, unlike the majority of BS kill stories I read over here..

Then you proceed to jump all over him, "Oh amg this, Mercedes better than all blah blah"

Pretty funny how your a self proclaimed authority on all these fine newer sports/luxury cars, When, what is it your driving around in? You kept throwing those comments in that guys face, "Oh do you own a slk55?"

Seriously you just flat out attacked that guy for no good reason, and lost the argument in the end to boot...

If this car is stock, then yes.

He said he drove other AMG's and I was asking if he has ever driven an SLK55. That's what the question meant. Was not being sarcastic!

It's a forum and people are free to express there differences whether they be factual or opinionated. Simple! There is a lot of BS over there and I decided to comment. To all those guys BMW's are superior.

PS You're entitled to your opinions also!

SLK55 or modded SLK32 would have done to him exactly what happened, is what I was saying was the point to my arguement. Where was he correct other than posting a 12.8 sec claimed to be stck M5?

And u chillout! Happy Holidays Dumb Elf!

EDITED!

There you go just proving my observations from your earlier rampaging tirade over at the Bimmer forum, go Scrooge go!! If you'd calm down & take a look at your earlier postings you'd see just how unjustified you were in making them...
As for my vehicle ownership question: I was giving you a much deserved albeit watered down taste of what you were serving up to the guy at the Bimmer forum, when you kept on him about "What cars he owns? & how he didn't own an slk55?..."

Now why don't you go re-read your unprovoked bashing fest over @ Bimmerworld & think about it, really think about it.... before giving your mandible another workout

No I'm obviously not a Mod around here, but you happily posted the link, I read it, & gave you my opinion, enjoy.....Happy Holidays.....

I doubt it. Traction and weight transfer are the killers. Throw some drag radials on there, pump up the fronts enough, strip some weight and it could get there, but bone stock, totally unmodded? Not.

I believe you guys missed the link I posted earlier. Apparantly, some guy nailed a 12.861 @ 108.7 mph in his stock 2003 M5. (45 psi fronts, 32 psi rears)

No, I read it, and I'm calling . A stock M5 is not going to hit a 1.898 second 60' time with stock radials launching at 2,000 rpm. It doesn't have the traction, the power/weight, or the suspension set up to allow enough weight transfer to give it sufficient traction to do this.

Don't believe every timeslip you see on the Internet. After all, your buddy SL Brabus managed to post this fake timeslip at Dragtimes.com (which was since removed after I pointed it out to the webmaster).

I've raced multiple M5s, and never lost to one yet. This is not a high 12 second car, any more than mine is, on street tires. With DRs, very possibly, but not with street rubber, and certainly not launching at 2,000 rpm.

Just posting this guy Rauch's results. Carl asked if there were any high-12 M5's out there, 30 second search, vuala. According to the site, Rauch came back after a few upgrades to pull off a 12.693 @ 110 mph. His car is probably a "strong" E39. Or he played with the numbers. Post him a reply, maybe he'll upload a slip or even a video.

(sigh....)...have you ever been to a drag strip? You don't post a 12.9 1/4 with a 1.9 second 60' time with a 108 mph trap unless you're running DRs. Street tires just don't hook that well. If he had a "strong" M5, he'd be trapping at more like 110+ to hit a high 12 like that on street tires.

Is there anything you read that you don't believe? I've never seen such a credulous individual.

There is another guy who claimed to have run a 12.7 in a "bone stock" M3. But if you look at his video, you see that the car's front seat is gone, the rear wheels are not stock, etc. etc. etc., but there are plenty of people still gullible enough to believe it.

Well, not me. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and I say that a stock M5 ain't going to hit a 1.9 sec. 60' with street tires, launching at 2000 rpm. If you'd ever driven/launched one, you'd realize how ridiculous this claim is. IF the car was to ever hit a 1.9, you'd have to launch it at a helluvalot higher than 2,000 rpm!

Haha. I am just posting a link to something of relation to the topic. Yet you go on to call me credulous over something of no significance. I wasn't there nor do I have any details on that M5. It would be very informative and enjoyable if the guy posted a video. Shame he didn't, our loss. Like I said, feel free to leave the guy a message. I'm sure he will have some answers to explain this dicrepency.

EDIT: Hmm...the point you made about the race...the 2000 rpm launch sounds very questionable. Intersting he says he did not feather it, considering that 2k in an M5 is going rather lightly in a drag race! Look, in the 30 seconds I found and copied that link, I saw the 12.8 QTR time. Hence, the post.

Looks like the Rauch's M5 has its interior intact. Any info on the the track itself?

Oh...my...God....are you actually conceding that I've got a point!?!?!?!

This is what I'm saying....unless he's at a track which allows one to launch at a 45 degree down angle, there is simply no way, no how, an M5 is going to get that quick of a 60' time (and trust me: that is a *really* fast 60' time) launching at 2000 rpm on street tires (or on DRs, for that matter). Even with DRs mounted up, you'd *have* to launch it closer to its torque peak (which was at nearly 4,000 rpm) to have any hope of hitting that 60' time.

There are plenty of people out there, as you well know, who are willing to post a lot of bunk to get thier 15 minutes of fame amongst their fellow Net denizens. Which is one reason I take claims like this with the proverbial grain of salt. Modded? Sure. Stock? Nope. Need DRs at a minimum to have any hope of nailing *that* in a stock E39.
