Good point, but I would point out Opulence != Genuine love for cars. There are some people that will drive a specific brand of car or a certain badge because they want to be seen by others in a certain light. I respect their desire to do so, but it's painfully obvious when someone is not a true petrol head and they drive a car just for the image. And if someone wants to call them out on it, then so be it. It's just refreshing to meet someone on the road, at a restaurant, in a parking lot, that shares the same love for cars that you do regardless of what they drive. And when someone who drives a car just to be ostentatious, it just makes me think man... what I would do if I had their car, I would drive the sh*t out of it, because God knows that brand new E63 driven by the suburban parent who uses the manual car was brush on the paint isn't being taken over 75mph.
Boosted's approach makes sense in the business context or even in the dating context, if she enjoys being with you on light rail on the first date to go downtown, then she will definitely be the kind of woman who will stick around for the right reasons.
I do like to try to figure out which girls are all about the money as early on as possible . I've even brought girls home and when they say "nice house" I have been known to say it's my brothers house and I'm staying with him while I'm trying to save up for a place of my own. If they turn out to be girlfriend material then I have to eventually say "remember when I said this was my brothers house? Well, I don't really have a brother" lol

At the time the "good car" was an off lease Honda Civic. The beater was a Geo Storm that was originally bought for under $1000 just to get home when stranded out of state... but the damn thing just wouldn't die. And the work truck was a 86 Dodge B350 postal van on it's third engine and the transmission code said it was from a 79 Dodge pickup.
The Ford minivan has also since been driven to it's grave... its on its 3rd transmission and I sold it to one of my contractors for what it cost to get the tranny working.
Now it's a 2015 Town and Country and the CLK63.

So,I was at the body shop today finishing painting my surge tanks ( on my de badged E55 AMG) when I spotted this in the back lot . An SL all badged up as a SL55 . This guy even painted the tiny calipers bright red and put AMG decals on them. Here's a few pics.

Have we been seeing a lot of S class AMGs lately or is it just me? Here is an S55. I guess he must have modded his exhaust, I forgot to ask. I did ask the owner how he liked the visceral kick of the SC. He gave me an odd look. After that, I didn't think it wise to ask if I could see his calipers.
If someone advertises a fake as a AMG , that is taking it to a whole different level. If by chance he could trick someone into that (which I doubt) the that's just cause to shoot him. In the face. I'm here in Florida and I think shooting him in the face would be legal here .lol
It's probably going to get worse now. I was at Auto Zone yesterday and they sell chrome letters and numbers individually for 99 cents a piece. So, for three bucks posers can make a E55 emblem etc. Stuff like this got worse once the internet and eBay came along . The "AMG" emblems and "Kompressor" emblems are like $60.00 each at the dealership . Mercedes priced them that way to discourage this type of shenanigans .
