AMG posers
I guess I will answer your original question. A badge and a spoiler does not make a AMG even if you bought the loaded CLS550. First off how they would know is a AMG CLS would be a 55 or 63. Second what makes an AMG is but not limited to: Engine, brakes, exhaust, suspension, gages, seats, wheels, badges and body mods. The engines are hand assembled and pumped way up some turbo, some S/C and some N/A. My CLK came in 3 levels. 320 with a 6 cl, a 430 V8 (4.3L 295hp 295tq) and my 55 V8 (5.4L 342hp 391tq). You can see there is a big difference between the cars but that just touches the surface with all the tuning that goes into an AMG.
It would be a lot like someone taking a 3.0 or 4.0 jag, removing the badges putting a grill on and some rims and slapping a Type-R badge on back. You would know and most likely be insulted by that poser.
If you want to buy a MB CLS550 buy a MB for the car, customize it how you want. Where the line gets crossed is when they think then they can put a AMG on the butt and call it an AMG.
Hope that helps.

AMG..............
Some want badges on their cars . . .
I preferred to remove all of the "V-8 Kompressor" lettering and AMG badging from my CL55.

I simply like the "cleaner" look. And, I am sure that anyone who knows the cars will know what the car is by the wheels, brakes, and quad exhaust tips.

by exhaust or lack of them. However people who have spent a lot of money on an AMG usually want to flaunt it. You are a very modest man!!
I personally I prefer to leave on the badge cars come with, but I do not
like extra badges, very dark windows and chrome wheels.
everyone has the right to do whatever they want. who am i to tell them not to.
but that doesnt mean i wont clown you for it.
personally, i debadged everything, including my star and filled in the hole in where most put a flat hood badge. i like the clean look.
sf bay area is small. i tend to see the same cars commuting the same roads at the same times.
i run into this "c32" often. first time, it was on 280 northbound around city college. i thought something was off. looked real enough but something was off about it.
next time i ran into on sunset blvd (local streets) ahhh thats what it is. damn, this guy went all out, rims, muffler, body kit... but no suspension? i had to turn off before i could pull up next to him, so no fun yet.
next time i ran into this "c32", i was on 101 northbound, had my girlfriend in the car with me. i had to stop her mind sentence, told her "ive been meaning to do this for a long time." i slam on the gas and catch up to him. i pull up right next to him going about 80, slam on it, let it off, slam on, it let it off. blow right by him, slow down, blow right by him, slow down.
initally, he tried to roll once..... but i think he figured out his "c32" was no match for my stock c55. he just changed lanes and stayed nice and steady in the slow lane.
i do occasionally run into this "c32" often. the girlfriend thinks im an a$$ for doing what i did. she said, why do you do that?
i told her the same thing i said earlier....
everyone can do whatever theyd like to. who am i to tell them not to do it. but doesnt mean i wont clown you for it.

My car is debadged ( came like that ) and I like it. I dont really take the car out to shopping centers but did this weekend.
Saw a TERRIBLE ruined E320 or 350 that was real shiny clean but was also debadged, terrible anodized tips that were like 4", on the fender had a V8 badge, AMG badge, and MB Badge. That went along with the bad job of smoked headlights, markers , and tail lights .
The worst part is my GF said ooohhh look at this MB it doesnt have its model also ( debadged)..not that she liked it , but the shiny paint caught her eye. I said the owner ruined it, and she asked why I was so upset...i went on rambling about its a V6, non-amg, almost now ricer look...
i need to start taking pics now as well...
