The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Not to speak for anyone else, but the only posers with whom I would cop an aggressive attitude are those that are deliberately attempting to mislead those to whom they're trying to sell a car (i.e. the "CLK430 AMG" for sale in my previous post). Yes, I'm aware of caveat emptor, et al, but still, fraud is fraud.
Beyond that, most of the posers pictured on this forum/thread aren't even going to be aware they're on here - I would guess that they're not members because if they were, they wouldn't be posing. For those that are members and post here, initial responses seem to more often be informational rather than aggressive; letting unsuspecting individuals know that among the MB community, AMG badges on non-AMG models are viewed in an unfavorable light and illustrate a certain level of ignorance. And this doesn't just apply to AMG badging. If you were to slap "V-12" badges on your w203, the fact that someone advises that that wasn't such a smart move isn't a case of copping an aggressive attitude; it's an attempt to let you know that it looks kind of ridiculous to anyone who knows what a w203 (or a V-12) is. Now, if your response to that would be to defend or justify the V-12 badging and post pictures of your "V-12 w203" on this forum, you'd have to realize that jokes will be made at your expense. It's not aggression, just amusement.
Lighten up, and if you're so deeply offended by the tone that some people take with "posers," just don't venture into the thread.
Cheers!
I'm usually pretty reserved but I went off on him in front of a few customers pretty hard, great shop but with an idiot like that its a great way to destroy reputations. Tool.

Never understood posing. It's like wearing a t-shirt that says you are an Olympic swimmer and drowning as soon as you hit the water. People have it backwards. It's speak softly and carry a big stick, not the other way around (i.e. All hype, no engine).

You know, it's kind of funny. What demographic are the posers going after? If you know what the badges mean, you are pretty steeped in MB knowledge, and should probably spot a phony immediately. And if you can't do that, then you probably wouldn't be impressed with the badges, because you don't know what they mean. Conundrum.

There are also alot of wanna be AMG owners out there that don't know the difference and the other posers seem to be impressed with who can out pose the other. I've even seen a fake set of double pipes not connected to the exhaust system.
