I snapped a pic of an old white panel van in Europe that had both a "Type-R" badge and an AMG badge on the back. Pic didn't come out well enough to see them though.

I would have to think a dealership or maybe even a private sale could get themselves in a world of hurt if they state they sold an AMG or AMGxx when in fact it was not. The person buying would be paying a premium for a car that was not as advertised or correctly described.

I have yet to see anyone post a picture of their window sticker that shows "AMG Package" as an option that was not on a true AMG. I know there is the sport package but that is not the same.

I think on the newer models it is called "AMG appearance package" not sure so don't quote me. Next time I"m at the dealers I will snap some shots of the window stickers.

I understand where you are coming from, but the AMG name is only secondary to the performance of the brand. I can only speak for myself, and I have always prioritized a vehicle's ability over whatever stigma it has. Please don't let the actions of poseurs ruin your enjoyment of that incredible twelve-cylinder automobile. Let them worry about themselves, for they are irrelevant to the driving static between an enthusiast and his toy.

Poseurs are not limited to AMG's my friend. Could say the same thing about a 600, or virtually any other attempt at a lesser model mimicking the premium one in the ironic quest at being viewed as something more. AMG is not about having exclusive image; they are about the engineering poured into each vehicle, and the dynamic of power delivered in rock-solid security and comfort. Not aiming this at you, but stating generally, that buying an AMG for something as superficial as "exclusivity" is a shameful waste of the car.

Of course posers are not limited to just AMG's. ut since we are in an AMG forum I think we'll stick to AMGs OK?
Yes AMG is about engineering.....and yes AMG is about exclusivity. I bought my CLK55 for both. Again....you have to own one to figure that out.

CLS550 HRE 948R - CLK55 AMG Sold
Here is a big example in the G35 world.... My G35

Some think their RWD NA U.S. G35 = Skyline? haha
They try to justify...
http://www.g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90147

Why spend $ on a badge anyways. SMokey 400hp burnouts are whats important in life, badges fall off anyways. ;/

I think this C5 corvette pic is appropriate, shot during a huge snow storm in chicago IL during the morning commute from my Quatro audi TT.
And yes these are summer Kuhmos. Now muscle cars can be rice too! Complete with Yellow XM, C6R stickers.

2003 CLK500
Found another one on TireRack.com:

"I drive an amazing Mercedes 2001 CLK430 AMG.I d never heard of Kumho before.I bought this tire strictly based on reviews at tirerack.com.This is the best tire on the market for the price period!Youd be foolish to spend your money on anything else. The second I drove out the shop after mounting ,it was like I was driving another car.To say these tires are "sticky" is an understatement. The handling, braking, acceleration, wet weather handling, you name it,all showed an immediate and significant improvement. They replaced a set of michelin Pilot Sports and to pay twice as much for those was a totsal eate of money.these tires are comparable in EVERY way.So far I only have 3000 miles. On the Michelins i could already sense tread wear but on these theres virtiually none. And the tread warranty is twice what many other tires are.Te onlt thng i can;t agreewith anyone else on is the noise factor.Maybe its because i drive an AMG benz, but its just oud,no matter what tire is on the car.But Im a real "road dawg" and i love to hear the sound of the road and the engine so it doest bother me.Seems to me that no low profile tires are really quiet .These are definitely a smoother ride than the Michelins but once again I drive an AMG so its not made for a smooth ride.If you want that you should drive a Caddilac. But dont waste you money on anything else.As of right now Id say Ill always drive on Kumhos unless everything else goes way down in price."

I think he's trying to convince himself that he drives an AMG!

M posers and AMG posers are everywhere... Here is one I was behind in traffic a few weeks ago.

I pulled up next to this person who happened to be an asian girl. She wouldn't look at me when I got next to her. She might have been a bit embarassed...lol

I actually saw a poser on the big screen today. Went to the movies today and one of the previews was for a movie called "Nights in Rodanthe" with Richard Gere. In the movie they show the back of an old S500 and it has an AMG badge on the right. I couldn't believe it. Anyone else see this movie trailer? It was hilarious.

Delusions of grandeur at best. Perhaps he should visit the wizard of oz, and get a brain, heart, and courage. LoL!

20+ to list......
Saw another poser today on Cross Island Pkwy south bound. Nice looking CLS550 until I saw the AMG badge on the other side of trunk lid, and it gets better, he has AMG badges on both fenders where the "6.3 AMG" badges go on the real models. I didn't get a good look of the driver because my exit was coming up, and I was in my SLK. (Everything else is so big because the car is so tiny, I love it!!) Showed the driver what a real AMG is.
