Yesterday I saw a S430 with an AMG badge on it. My younger brother was in the car and as a joke I said that the badge adds about 20-30 hp to the car . He just laughed and asked where I got the numbers from.

Oh, once I was on my way to Santa Barbara and at the Exxon gas station in Calabasas off the 101 freeway. As I was going back to my friends car, I saw a 4 door C230 Kompressor with a badge on the back that said CLK230 and Kompressor on the right hand side. WTF??? It was not even a 2 door.

Do you by any chance have any AMG markings on your NON-AMG?

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with any Mercedes out there, we just hate the fact that people put badges on their non-AMG'd Mercedes and tell others they are driving AMG's. If you can't afford one, don't try to be one, simple as that.

Won't bother me any, I'd probably never see the back of your CLK500 AMG anyhow

You should go for the: CLK500 on the left side, Brabus/Carlsson/AMG on the right side, wouldn't make you any more/less of a poser.

I don't think anyone is trying to be "emblem police" (aka Badge Cop), but just at the individuals who prentend to be something they're not. Kinda like; just because someone is in a band, doesn't make them a rock star.

If it makes you feel better to put an AMG badge on your Benz, then do it. But it would be rather embarrasing when a true AMG pulls up and BLOWS your doors off

As for myself, I don't have an AMG (yet), but have a deep reverence for them. One day, I hope to be a member of this elite group

Well, if thats what floats your collective boats, then just continue to troll around with your camara at the ready so you can "catch" the next offender.
Personally, I think you would do better treating fellow MB owners with a little more respect and courtesy. It really is pretty sad when one of the longest threads in this forum consists purely of sarcasm and ridicule directed against others.
Parenthetically, you might also want to read this thread

Seems like you guys direct this kind of crap at each other also.
I think AMG's are awesome cars.

My friend....If you think all of us here act like that douche in the E55 then you are mistaken. Making fun of posers is alot different than talking down to other AMG owners for the car they have or don't have. A poser is a wannabe. He holds no merit in my book. He is not happy with the non-AMG car he has and wants to trick others into thinking he has an AMG. That is messed up to me. If I see another MB owner on the road I have nothing but respect for them. But when they disrespect the AMG brand by badging their car then they get no respect from me in return. Is that clear enough for you? Sinking in yet? Give respect then get respect.

Well unfortunately "waste of the car for exclusivity" is EVERYWHERE among higher end cars and especially exotics. I would say maybe half of all exotic owners own the F-Car,Lambo, Bentley, Aston, S-Class and anything comparable for the "image" only.

I've talked to several owners that barely even know what year model it is, let alone the in's and out's of the car. THey have the $$ to burn , they can do whatever.

I remember in the dot-com days when a friend of mine hit big, asked me...
what car will make me "look" like I'm someone...o well...

Take it easy, reserved! It's not like that at all. This is the internet, and more specifically, MBWorld. It's a place to bullisht and talk about cars. It's also for entertainment.

One of the things the guys here in the CLK55 thread find entertaining is noting how many Mercedes, and even Non-Mercedes cars add AMG badges and such. It's entertainment. That post from the guy at Tirerack was very amusing, and I am glad that it was posted, because I never would have read it elsewhere.

If you don't want to participate, cool.

I know you're a sharp guy - and at your age can afford probably anything you want.

I kept racking my brain "WHY is 'reserved' being sooo sensitive....??"

You state, correctly - as far as I can prove, that you have not re-badged your CLK500 with CLK55 or even an AMG badge. You're no AMG poser....

Is the true reason you're so sensitive about badging "do's and dont's" is because you've plastered your 350Z Roadster with no less than 5 NISMO badges, not including the personalized vanity plate that advertises your car as a NISMO??

NISMO *times* 3 in the engine bay....

https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....65&postcount=1

Your posting of the vanity plate...

https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....21&postcount=1

I didn't link the photos of the back end from my350.com showing the NISMO license plate frame and NISMO badge.

It all makes sense to me now. You feel guilty for dressing up the "Fairlady" with all the NISMO garb, but somehow feel the need to point fingers and come off with a holier-than-thou diatribe about the supposed need of AMG owners to feel or act superior.

I don't.

I just don't respect poser defenders that turn out to be posers of the highest order themselves!

Some people just don't have enough money, but love AMG. Don't be a hater, learn to deal with it. Who cares. At least they can dream.

ha, wow chappy, never saw u pop off like that on the board! and AMG's arent even "expensive" mine:03 purchased in 05, 37k on the ticker for 40k...i've seen some guys have newer model CLK's, just go get an AMG thats like 2-3 years old, works out to being pretty much the same price, probably less than a brand new 320,350 or 500,550...stop getting upset/sensitive over the fun of the board...

p.s
amgbeleza, great lookin dog

Wow. The ownage has reared its ugly head again! Someone needs to add this to the classic Ownage thread in TOW. A 5+ Year member has waited long to meet his fate in the shameful world of OWNAGE.

Nice catch, Chappy. It all started with some 'innocent' comments by "reserve", which we now know why the comments were made as this thread has hit a little to close to home.
