W208 Suspension Question

Do any of the w208 amg owners have aftermarket spring/shock setups? I just got mine, and it's really exciting to drive. I have 19" wheels and LOVE the slammed look. I'm tempted to lower the car. I had a 430 with H&R's and bilstein sports.

The 55 handles REALLY great right now. I would hate to trade suspensions and end up with decreased handling just for the look. Any suggestions for keeping the AMG spec performance and lowering the car significantly? Over an inch for sure...Especially if you have H&R's, is there a difference?

Also, does suspension changing void or hurt the extended warranty? Thanks!

Z,

Have you considered the euro-spec springs? They're designed for our cars and you won't have to change dampers...

They may be getting a little pricey with the exchange rate tho...

+1 Chappy and I have both done the euro springs. Perfect fit and ride.

I've thought about that. How much does it lower the car?

N/m I saw how much it lowers it. I really like the slammed look!! I just don't want to lose any handling capability OR void a warranty...

Be careful with tire width when slamming your W208 CLK55.
I am running 245 front and 275 rear on factory Monoblock IIs.
Rears will rub on big dips.
Just FYI.

I Remember at the Atlanta AMG Meet last fall I was staring at your CLK from across the parking lot. I kept thinking to myself.....damn! Why does his car look so damned bad-a$$ compared to mine!

First, your CLK is Black. Then I studied the tire sizes and SOMEONE had managed to STUFF 245s and 275s....I was like CRAY-ZEE mang!

yeah, i have 19's w/ 235 35 19 front and currently 255 30 19 rear. i want either 265 or maybe even 275 30 eventually in the rear. i had them on my 430 and had no rubbing issues at all on h&rs, sport shocks, and small pads. and i hear these clk55 fenders are factory rolled, which means i should have even less rubbing issues (unless it squats or dives excessively more in a hard accel/decel)

KW v.2 Height adjustable and dampening adjustable. You can go from super smooth to stiff within 5 minutes!!! Adjusting ride height is a PITA though. My rear is all the way down and still isnt as low as i'd like it to be The front is pretty low and I have alot more threads I could go down if I wanted to. Could probably sit the front bumper on the ground if it was all the way down.

i went with kw v1 coilovers. you really cannot beat the ride. people just assume that the ride height is stock because the car does not ride like a lowered car.

Thanks for the link chappy. I was wondering if anyone had any more recent or long term advice for me. My g/f just ordered me a set of h&r springs for my birthday but reading some of these old threads on lowering, I see that some recommend changing oem shocks when going with h&r. How crappy am I going to be riding if I use the factory shocks? Extreme tire wear would probably **** me off. I also saw it mentioned that the h&r's get compressed over time and as the car settles, the ride height gets lower etc. I'm considering returning the springs and just hacking half a coil off my factory springs and changing the pads like some others have done as a temporary fix since I'm not sure I really want to "slam" the thing and also because I'm not sure that the roads in my area are conducive to driving slammed cars anyway. My mb tech buddy is willing to do it all for free with my help. But I suppose if I went with the h&r springs, I could also swap out pads later for free if I needed to.
