Around 9:30 p.m., 47-year-old Brett Brown, of 2A La Bonne Vie Drive, East Patchogue, was driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz eastbound on Woodside Avenue near Harlem Avenue when he was struck head-on by another vehicle. Police say Christopher Vogel, 20, of 28 Rosedale Ave., East Patchogue, and Nicholas Luongo, 17, of 5 Balsam Drive, Medford, were riding in a 2003 Honda westbound when it crossed the double yellow line and struck Brown’s vehicle.

The force of the crash caused the Honda to break apart into two pieces, ejecting both Vogel and Luongo from the vehicle.

According to one of the news clips, the Honda was traveling at 100MPH!! I assume the CLK was going at least 40MPH so the impact of the crash must have been incredible. The crash was so violent that it immediately ejected both occupants in the Honda (the report did not indicate whether they were wearing their seatbelts). I am surprised that the driver of the CLK walked away with minor injuries.

WOW!
Notice the rear Headrests? They appear to have deployed as well preparing for a rollover. I have new respect for my CLK. It's a friggin tank like people say. We should qualify for insurance discounts for driving one.

Looks like the Honda yawed 90deg to the right and took it on the side (ie like a T-bone). Look at the hood, it's in perfect condition. Also, the side airbags went off.
With that said though, the other day in Vancouver 2 people died in a BMW when their car was rear-ended by an Acura TL that was allegedly streetracing. The Acura then lost control and flipped, and the 2 guys inside crawled out and booked it. So while I do feel safer in a German car, the fact is that no car is bulletproof. Be safe guys.
