Whats the top speed that you guys clocked? I manage to get only 160mph (around 258kph), but it definitely feels faster than 160mph when i'm on that speed. Not sure if my speedmeter is giving me the correct reading (running on 19")

Even my previous Golf GTI mkv can get more than that, around 265kph (running on 18")

 

Thats because your car is limited at 160. All German cars are limited at 160, but you can order one with V-MAX which means that it's not limited.

 

I was going to say that. If you take the govenor(sp?) off then you should get a little more out of it. Mine topped out at 160mph and felt like it had a whole lot left.

the limiter is at 155. if you tune it you can get rid of the limiter.after that i'm guessing around 180+. but your speedo won't go past 160 analog or digital mode.

I was told that my car was tuned by previous owner, not sure whats the tuner's name though. If not mistaken its 3 alphabets, any guess?

 

I've had my speedo pinned when running against my buddies modded SRT8 300C. However his car has reported speeds of 175mph+ on his digi speedo with me right there with him at times.

 

Why 160mph is not fast enough?

 

maybe AMG speedos are different.does the analog speedo in your AMG show past 160?

 

Which model of CLK that has the 320kph speedmeter reading instead of the 160mph? Any speed restriction for the kph speedmeter?

where the hell are you guys going 160mph? the fastest i have ever been in the AMG was about 140 and it was for less than ten seconds on the highway. i am too nervous about getting a reckless driving ticket.

I GOT MY CLK 500 UP TO 147MPH AND I FELT THE LIMITER KICK IN..IT WAS LIKE SOME ONE GRABBED THE REAR OF MY CAR..AND I FELT IN THE PEDAL I HAD MORE POWER LEFT..CANT WAIT TO GET MY POWERCHIP!!!

 

Got Up to 157MPH on mine and it still had room to go but traffic was coming up but i thought it would stop at 155 but it kept going . and it is stock.
Oh yeah this is on a C32 AMG.

mine was @ 160. had the pedal down for another 5-6 seconds after that and then let go.i know it was close to 170 but my speedo stopped @ 160.i should of had my gps with me.

You will not get a accurate speed from the speedometer in the car. The speedos are good and work very well for your average day to day driving. Once you start getting over 100MPH they show definite inconsistencies.. If checking the top speed of your car you need a high quality after market or radar gun. You all could line all your cars up on a long straight away and go to each speedometer reads 150mph but each car would probably going a different speed that you would notice with the other cars around proving to you that your speedometer is slightly off. Being German their requirement is it can never read less than your actual speed. However in triple digits it can be upwards of 13mph off.

 

Top speed of a CLK55 is 155mph from the factory. Mine is tuned by renntech. I do not know it’s top speed with aftermarket parts but if I was to guess I would assume around 180mph? Give or take.
