QUESTION REGARDING K&N AIR FILTERS for 01CLK55
im thinking about getting k&n airfilters and i just had a few questions regarding them...first, i believe i would need 2 air filters..is this correct? secondly, how much does it cost? lastly, what hp and torque gains can i expect? and is it worth it? thanks so much for any help.

My MB service manager said there wouldn't be any problems with the K&Ns. Do a search for Bodyart27 for his dyno numbers with the 2 filters. I didn't notice too much of a difference in performance on my clk as I have on other cars.

I have the K&N filters in my 01 CLK55. Noticed a bit more wheelspin. Gtech said it is a bit faster. Traction is a much larger problem. My service manager said it was not an issue from a warranty perspective.

I have a 2002 CLK55 with the K&N filters. Now chirps the tires between first and second! Not a lot of power difference. You will need two part #33-2183 from performanceproducts.com I believe about $45 each.

Oh no, I tried 3 and they all refused.
Unfortunately I can't tell who finally did it because of where he/she works.
...but remember. I'm running a 1/4 tank of 100 octane to get 93.
$40 every time I fill her up...

I then also changed my fuel setting to 93 octane. Should see her run now....

Heres an easy way to get more HP from your MBZ. All MBZ's shipped here are set up at a "baseline" adaptive ign setting. Roll down to your local MBZ dealer (where you have a friend) and ask them to get out the Star Diagnose machine and plug it in to your car. Go through the engine controls, ME2.8 menu and reset the adaptive ingnition setting to 93 octane. Dont worry this is a EURO antiknock index- equates to approx 91 here. It will advance the timing 6 degrees across the board- good for quite a few hp on the 55 engine.
Plop in a "freeflow" airfilter element and your close to the coveted $3K performance packages.
