Super Charging the 55CLK ?
Now that I have done the AV system - and my car is fully 21st century audio/visual I am thinking of the engine changes.
I was seriously consider super charging the car - with a kleeman kit- or similar. It will cost in my country around 10-11 thousand dollars.
I am concerned however, that with the car which already has a tendency to wheelspin on corners that the ultimate problem I have is the rear tyres arent wide enough, and that the black series in widening the rear and front tyres has solved the problem.
Is there anyone who has supercharged their 55 -and could share the experience ? Is it possible to replace the rear wheels (even if the rear paneling needs to be wider ? Or should I just shut up and enjoy what I have - and replace the car in a year or two when the BS or similar prices come down ?
Thoughts guys ?

Blackbenzz has a Kleemann SC on his W208 CLK55 and currently holds the record for fastest 55 (without nitrous) on MBworld. He went 11.00 at around 125MPH in the 1/4. You might want to talk to him.

Yea I have the old style Kleemann charger which apparently makes more power. In terms of traction, you can forget about it on street tires. Its not happening from low speeds. Its very predictable with an LSD though. How far do you think you will take the engine mods? If you are just doing charger and nothing else you may be ok with just some r compound tires. I know I cant launch my car with r compound tires even on a well prepped track with a good burnout

You can never have enough power, even if it's hard to use from low speed. After toying with the idea for two years, I decided that Kleemann's recent pricing discounts made the question an easy one to answer.
But I had asked the wrong question. In France, in turns out such a modification would make the car illegal for the street. So enjoy your Yankee freedom and good luck!

thinking simple supercharger at first- with the required exhaust changes etc. It sounds like I then need to replace the tires as well. New rims or just new tires on the rims ?

I dont think there are any required exhaust changes but I would do at least headers as well. You can just put new tires on the existing rims

I am currently fitting a Autorotor type Kleemann supercharger to a CLK 55.
The engine has been built with low comp forged pistons, 200mm crank pulley, headers, custom exhaust, SL 55 wheels and an LSD.
Just have to complete the exhaust system and it will be ready for a custom dyno tune.

Depends on the weather where you live and what kind of driving you do.
What rods/pistons did you use? Did you have to sleeve the block? How much boost do you plan on running?

This is the first MB/ AMG car that I have built and because of the lack of quality technical info available the engine will be built in stages so the limits of various setups can be determined.
The engine used was nearly new with only a few thousand kilometers travelled so the sleeves were fine.
Coated CP pistons were used and the desired static comp ratio was achieved without changing the rods.
Boost will be determined during tuning, unfortuneatly i have been unable to obtain a 55 Kompressor ECU yet which would allow more air flow and a better tune than the std air flow meter.
