Hang my head in shame - lost to a corvette
My trusty CLK55 lost. As I reached the speed limit I stopped accelerating and held my speed. I was way behind at this point.
So - I think I will re-visit the supercharged and engine tuning thread and put my car on a weight diet. My consolation is I love my car, its audio system, and looks, and quality. But its time to open the bonnet and let the professionals get to work. I feel a dent in my bank balance coming on.
I will get my consolation at the next organised race series - where the usual heavilly modified Golf GTI's, Subaru Imprezas, and the like line up to lose to the majority of 55 and 63 AMGs. But for now - respect to the new Corvette.

Well, assuming it was a Z06...atleast you didn't try racing a 63 BS like I did...haha...I knew I would lose but I wanted to see it in action up close. Needless to say it was no competition
All I heard was that loud *** exhaust which made me smile...

The CLK55 coupe curb weight is 3444 Lbs, with 362 HP....=9.5 Lbs per HP.
The Vette curb weight is 3217 lbs, and has 430 HP....=7.48 Lbs per HP.
Advantage Corvette.
You and I are driving a LUXURY sport coupe.
..not a two seat sports car like the Vette. We have the panache and luxury of a MBZ, but with some additional performance from AMG. The CLK55AMG is quick enough to give 95% of muscle cars a good "***** slap", but C6 Vettes are a problem....all we need is another 100 HP to have the Corvette's power to weight ratio, which would help equalize the fight.
For me, removing most of the interior to save weight isn't the way I would go. The changes should be under the hood....and not noticeable from the outside. A total "sleeper" is my idea of a boulevard cruiser and stoplight fighter.......
You have a good starting point.
"Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?"
The new corvette even the "standard" one are really quick. Just a couple of mods here and there and you and you will get to where you want...

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

As for the feedback, you're right - engine is the way forward- and that is the way I will go. Kleeman can expect to hear from me.
