Talking I hope all of you know how to drive your 55

I hope all of you know how to drive your car the way it was meant to be driven ;p

In the last couple weeks i've raced 3 clk's 55s and each and everyone beaten by at least 3 car lenghts. Should have seen the frustration on one guy's face at an intersection afterwards in his silver 55. He asked if i have turbo LOL just 4 door auto I replied. (c36)

Mr Eurosport needs to stop smoking that weed that comes from the same place where his dog takes a dump.........it's causing him to hallucinate too badly.

My suggestion would have to be to seek immediate medical attention before your condition deteriorates any further!

Oh, one more thing, when you do get better, you should run to your nearest Mercedes Benz Dealer and get a real car. j/k

you guys almost made me spill my coffee lol

Insult all you want, but that won't get you anywhere

I'm in Seattle area atm
i'd be glad to do some runs on the freeways anytime =)

As far as taking real world lessons rofl, that's what those CLK 55 that got smoked need to take.

Don't tell me it's not true, you all seen it happen waaaaay too many times. Lots of people that have no clue how to drive their bad *** cars. Just like 99% of the people having an SUV and not taking ever off road lol. Have you seen a Ferrari driven 55mph in the slow lane by and old guy with 2 hands on the steering wheel barely holding on? I hope that's not you lol

You have a valid point. In fact (real world experience), I butchered a C36, SL500 and an SLK230 Sport w/ manual tranny in an autocross a few years ago. Me? I was driving a stock 300CE on street tires

How 'bout it? Is there anyone in Seattle who'll waste this dude?

Sheesh, Evosport, look at the mag tests...the CLK55 has tested anywhere from 13.4-13.7, traction limited (i.e., too much wheelspin off the line to get the low-13 times it's easily capable of); the C36 was a mid-14 car. A full second iin the 1/4 mile translates to ten carlengths, dude (rule of thumb is 1/10 = one carlength)...either you weren't racing CLK55's (but even a rebadged CLK430 should have hung with you with no problem; they have more hp than you do), or the CLK55's you *did* race weren't trying.

And what's this about driver skill?? In an auto, in a drag race?? It's not as if a huge level of skill is required to mash the throttle, for crying out loud, and even with traction control *on*, a CLK55 would munch you with no trouble. Face it: against a CLK55, a stock C36 is toast.

I couldn't disagree with you more
Drag/track numbers are worthless in the real world.
Skill, yes skill makes all the difference. If you drive your car in D all the time, obviously that's the one thing you're missing is skill. Why does a Lamborghini Diablo get smoked on a race track averaging one of the worst times on the track? Don't tell me it's the car. LOL
Keep rollin in your D.

C32 Vs CLK55

Euro-Whatever
That still does not prove nothing. the CLK55 - Will spank the paint for the C32 - Any day, Anytime - Agreed, Driver style and method does make a difference but considering they are both automatic trans - pressing on the gas pedal is something my wife can achieve. We can argue this issue until we are all blue in the face, but that will change nothing, the simple fact of the matter is the CLK55 is faster period. pervious time slips supplied by my fellow ///AMG brothers have proved the Beast, is just that the BEAST. As well as MB website indicated the prior to the SL55 the CLK55 was there faster production car EVER. enough said, we know the truth, and the truth shall set you free - can I get a AMEN ?

funny, i raced a c43 once and we were dead even until about 80 then he slowly, i mean REALLY SLOWLY started to pull away. And this was in a stock CLK430, not a 55. And the guy was in his 30's, not in his 70's with both hands on the wheel doin 55 in the fast lane.

......somewhere in the Seattle area a conversation takes place.....

Eurosport: "Yo, CLK55 owner, I'll waste you in the real world."

CLK55: "OK, kid. Yeah....whatever."

Eurosport: "No really, my C36 will STOMP you!"

CLK55: "If it will shut you up, okay...when and where?"

Eurosport: "Over at the two lane...I'll take the left lane, you take the right lane...MIDNIGHT!"

CLK55: "Aite den."

*************************

CLK55 owner shows up a few minutes early and catches Eurosport dumping oil on the right lane just prior to midnight.

*************************

CLK55: "Is this what you call winning in the 'real' world?"

Eurosport: "You agreed to take the right lane....what? Now are you CHICKEN?"

CLK55: "Whatever, I'm outta here....."

*************************

Eurosport (now typing frantically on his PC) "Can't you CLK55 owners drive....."

:p

There is a BIG difference between a racetrack and a dragstrip.

On a ractrack, yes, it takes a great deal of skill to get the max out of a car.

At a dragstrip, with an auto-tranny car? Yeah, it takes a lot of skill to mash the pedal to the floor! Hell, last time I took my car to Ennis, bodyart27 was there in his CLK55. He switched places with his girlfriend every other run. All she did was punch it, with the traction control *on*, and she was running 13.8's and 13.9's all night. The C36's best time in *any* of the mags was a high 14. And you're going to beat up on a mid-13 car. Lol!

Dream on, bud...a CLK55 would chew you up and spit you out.

The A..M..G 5.5 Litre V8 of the CLK 55 will beat anything with a smaller engine other than the 360 Modena, and an F1 car.

WHY are we even entertaining this Eurothinkshe'ssport guy, the only thing he is beating is his me-t.

However, we do have to give this MBWorlder some credit, he knew EXACTLY what buttons to push with us.

.........you say that you can take MY CLK55.........immediately, ppl are chewing him to pieces.

That's exactly why I went out and bought this BEAST to begin with. YOU want this, you better come prepared!!!! And as the technology in this car becomes outdated, I'll just keep mod'ing up and will always be a few steps ahead.

The CLK55s will forever be creeping in the background, just waiting to STOMP some BUTT.

Eurosport, good job man, hope you didn't take anything personal. And hey, who knows, your car may grow up some day and become a beast too.

Keep it safe,

Joe

Wow, look at how badly we're beaten:

Here are a few 0-60 and 1/4 mile times from the link below:

1995 Mercedes-Benz C36 6.0 14.5
1997 Mercedes-Benz C36 5.9 14.4

1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK430 6.1 14.5
2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG 5.0 13.6

Hmm, you might give a CLK430 a bit of trouble, but...a CLK55??

5439cc,

What is your 1/4 mile ET and trap speed? 1/8 mile? Reason I ask is this quote:

Even if your car runs low 13's, you still wouldn't "spank" a C32. I would not call a few tenths difference a spanking. Anyway, wouldn't be too concerned with a few tenths here and there, as long as you enjoy your car.

Wink 1/4 times - not bad for an old man

13.5 - 13.1 at Elishtown NJ. About four months ago - went with the BMW M5 Crew - I truly believe a (12.9 -13.0) is possible - Wheel spin is your worse enemy when attempting that task.
Now that's with almost half a tank of gas and no K&N filter - no much to gain with the filter, but like the women say, "EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS" - I will practice my starts again, once the snow leaves northern NJ. What about you ?
