My Rear bumper needs to be replaced : (
Hello guys,
My wife backed up on garbage can and scratched my rear bumper.
I thought it was just a minor scratch on the chrom trim.
Then, I found out that It is actually cracked by the trim, I tooked it to local body shop and they quoted me 2100 for replacing bumper and the chrom strip.
I dont want to file to my insurance if I can find cheaper alternative.
do you guys have any opinion or anyone selling their used rear bumper?

If it looks minor to you and since it is a bumper, what are the odds the bumper or bumpers will incurr another parking ding? Is touching up the paint and chrome an option; just leaving the damage an option?

MBWorld Fanatic!
The dealer list price for the molding on a 2003 CLK55 is $44.50 The rear bumper cover is $1250.
I think you want to talk to your insurance agent. I don't know about your insurance company, but mine isn't charged the same rate as a person off the street. If I file a claim with Allstate, a $2100 bill will be about $1260. 60% - if that much. When the car is ready, I can pay the bill and cancel the claim with Allstate. This gives me the insurance discount and no claim, which is what I think you want. If you tell the body shop in advance that you're going to do this, they may reject the work. Call your agent and have them talk you through how this works. The agent is there to make you happy.

Speaking of which...
Well, look at my rear bumper and tell me which is worst do you want to guess how much the damages cost for repair? Give up? Ok. $10,000 and that's not a typo I got rear ended by a Range Rover while stopped at a red light! Good thing the driver has Farmers Insurance and has claimed 100% liability. I bet he'll think twice about texting while driving as I am sure his premium is going to go through the roof.

Thanks. I'm so hoping that it looks like new again. The work is being done by LeMans Body & Paint with a lifetime warranty on all the parts which will be brand new. Also, I can have the car inspected and the work done over again if I'm not satisfied with the way it looks. So far I've paid zero of my own dollars The car should be ready by this weekend or early next....I'll keep you guys posted.

Back To topic,
Anyone has experience of Extramdimensions fake AMG rear bumper?
it only cost 335... and it is tempting to fix with cheaper alternative as long as quality isn;t ****!
please let me know
